One in eight Minnesotans on the road don't have valid licenses

A startling number of Minnesota drivers don't have a valid license and should not be behind the wheel. A KARE-TV/MPR report found that approximately 1 in 8 drivers don't have driving privileges because their licenses have been suspended, revoked, canceled or disqualified. In some cases, they had no license at all. Yet they still drive. Reporter Trisha Volpe analyzed court records between 2008 and 2013 and found that nearly 310,000 people have been convicted for driving when the law says they can't. In the Twin Cities metro area that number was 181,000 with scores of repeat offenders. Volpe reported that motorists with invalid licenses are twice as likely as those with valid licenses to be involved in a fatal crash. Driving without a valid driver's license doesn't carry much of a penalty. A ticket and a fine apparently isn't enough of a deterrent, says Jon Cummings of Minnesotans for Safe Driving.

I'm sure this will improve once we get another amnesty bill from Congress.

Why would they care about a little thing like having a valid driver’s license, when powerful politicians and businesses support them breaking the law of the land by being here in the first place?

Just like in NY = ILLEGALS. No Insurance either. Most Mexicans in Mexico never bother to get a drivers license. If they do and loose, usually in a DUI crash, then never bother again. Not knocking, it was from my friend in Mexico.

I can’t figure out how it is possible. I mean physically possible to drive without a State license. How? The State has said they are not capable of driving. How do they still do it? Have we violated a basic tenant of physics here?

Stunning. Mind Blowing.

....suspended, revoked, canceled or disqualified. In some cases, they had no license at all.

They just cannot bring themselves to even utter the word "illegal alien".

I would want to know the reasons for the lost licenses, i.e., drunk driving vs too many parking tickets (or whatever)

The “Not a drop” campaign and MADD, probably.

I think when you have limited $ and limited troopers, .08 drivers should be the least of your worries compared to the habitual, repeat offender drunk driver and people driving at .12 and above.

IOW, it’s a money maker for the state.

Add in the fact that the largest cities in Minnesota are Democrat run and also “sanctuary cities” and the likelihood that they are ‘catch and release’ for illegals should not surprise any one.

I like the comment in the story about "... and they still drive. " You have got to wonder about the intelligence of whom ever wrote this article. Gee, druggies "... and they still shoot up....", bank robbers "... and they still rob banks....", etc., etc., etc.,

Please give me a break. Oh yeah, idiots "... and they still write stupid articles....".

Not only that, but if a guy goes in arrears on child support, they take his license. Makes a lot of sense, not.

Jesse says he’s hiding from the drones but the smart money says he is hiding from the fact he was once governor of this state!

I deliberately avoided having a driver’s license for many years, that was useful in the days when most cops would stop at that ticket, and skip giving you the ticket for whatever you were doing to get stopped for.
