U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia told law students at the University of Hawaii on Monday that the nation's highest court was wrong to uphold the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II, but he wouldn't be surprised if the court issued a similar ruling during a future conflict.
Scalia was responding to a question about the court's 1944 decision in Korematsu v. United States, which upheld the convictions of Gordon Hirabayashi and Fred Korematsu for violating an order to report to an internment camp.
"Well of course Korematsu was wrong. And I think we have repudiated in a later case. But you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again," Scalia told students and faculty during a lunchtime Q-and-A session.
Scalia cited a Latin expression meaning, "In times of war, the laws fall silent."

“In times of war, the laws fall silent.”
A dire warning about Obama from Justice Scalia.
Let’s say it’s 2025 and Islam is at war with the world. Terrorist attacks from the (now millions) of Islamists imported by Carter, Clinton and Obama are daily killing those who are not Islamists and those who are the wrong “flavor” Islamists. This is happening in every US city and is a daily occurrence. They have been taught to do this since birth. What action will be take?
Yeah, and it will be Tea Party members who are thrown in first.
Exactly what I was thinking
Next time the occupants will be Christians.
Don't forget the Islamist imported by, non other than, George W. Bush.
“war on drugs”
“war on poverty”
“war on obesity”
“war on terror” ...we’re at constant war so they better get busy building more prisons.
I call bottom bunk.
Our obese government exists to continue the wars you mentioned.
The best war (from a power hungry government’s perspective) is one that:
society is brainwashed into rarely questioning;
has the appearance of being fought in good faith;
and never actually cures the perceived problem.
That about wraps up the war on drugs.
One would think that any war that goes for more than six decades without being any closer to victory would demand a reconsideration of its wisdom.
Maybe that’s just me.
I can’t wait until the war on intolerance! That should be all kinds of fun.
We Christians can count on being first in line.
