ObamaCare was supposed to help me.
That’s all I could think as I sat in the House of Representatives last Tuesday night as the guest of my congresswoman, only a few hundred feet away from President Obama as he gave his State of the Union address. Four years ago, I’d have been there cheering for ObamaCare’s passage. But the real ObamaCare has made my life a nightmare.
I suffer from a difficult chronic illness called lupus, an autoimmune disease with devastating symptoms that strike when you least expect them. At age 40, my life is filled with visits to doctors, specialists and the emergency room. While paying for this care is expensive, I have no other choice.
Prior to ObamaCare, I bought my health insurance through CoverTN, a program run by the state of Tennessee. The coverage was perfectly suited to my unique medical condition. It offered me low premiums, a low deductible and low co-pays for my regular trips to doctors and specialists. This plan was perfect for someone with my unique medical condition and limited financial means.
My plan was canceled last fall. According to the regulators behind ObamaCare, it was a subpar plan that should no longer be sold to consumers. Another 16,000 Tennesseans on the same plan were similarly dumped. Many, like me, liked their plans and wanted to keep them.

I really find it hard to sympathize with these people. They were warned, they drank the Koolaid anyhow.

I’m beginning to think that was the bridge too far for Obamacare. Not just the b/c; abortion stuff, but all the mandates. If they had left that part out things might be working better now.
Twitchy’s got some thread going about some actress (never heard of her) who lost her coverage due to Ocare (but of course she immediately blames the GOP). I mention this because I’m guessing she may have had some kind of catastrophic coverage through SAG or something like that; a lot of people had very basic coverage through professional associations, those plans are probably all gone now.
But you know, that’s all most people need, what I used to call appendicitis/hit by a car insurance. Not this crazy “all your health care is belong to us” monstrosity.

The entire patient population of the US must suffer to meet the incidental ancillary needs of the few who could, and do, afford them anyway.
Ultimately, if our Supreme Court ever hopes to have at least some smidgen of a legacy of “justice” it will put a stop to all of this cronyism, special dispensation, and outright pandering to special interest groups.
It is nothing more than blatant unequal treatment under the law.
My wife’s plan was $330ish a month until Obamacare cancelled it and notified her that her new premium would be in the $900 range per month. We had to let it go because we could barely afford the other. “Affordable Healthcare Act” my a$h. A misnomer if I ever heard one.

Add another pristine example of the arbitrariness of a government bureaucrat making decisions about what is good or bad, right or wrong, fair or unfair, and on and on and on. Seems our not-so-uniquely diagnosed Lupus sufferer thought her coverage was just fine until someone deemed it unworthy and took it away.
The sad part is, when universal government-run health care is introduced, and it will be — these same fools will embrace it too. They will continue to trust the snake oil salesman and his cohorts again and again. And they will be disappointed again and again.

As far back as 2008, at the presidential debate in Nashville, Democrat candidate Obama advanced his signature healthcare plan---ultimately enacted, by an historic straight Democrat party-line vote, into the "Affordable Care Act"
QUOTING 2008 OBAMA: "No. 1, let me just repeat, if you’ve got a health care plan that you like, you can keep it. All I’m going to do is help you to lower the premiums on it. You’ll still have choice of doctor.” Repeated over and over ---- with the promise that every American family would be saving $2500.00 on healthcare costs.
Significantly, Obamba NEVER corrected lock-stepping Democrats, all reading from the same Democrat talking points, all of them repeating the same Democrat promises---over and over again.
