We do not have a TV, and we go to the rare movie only, one that is family-oriented. We do not go to see trash, or to see the bad guys (evil) promoted. We’ve done this for almost 35 years now. I cannot see the pull of TV. I see it in doctor’s offices and occasionally when at a friend’s house. WHat is funny about the parodies they use today? It escapes me. They are all below the belt and not much has changed over the years. Men are stupid, women are strong or ditzy, sexual deviancy is “kewl”, etc. The ads are no better. It is difficult to hold my tongue when talking about the situation. Our country is falling apart and even Christians HAVE to see their certain shows or their lives are somehow diminished. After all, doesn’t God know they have a weakness for this or that? I could understand if it was Jeopardy, or one like that, but everyone seems to think that being glued to TV all day has no effect on you unless you let it. It does have an effect, very subtly to change your worldview and thought processes. It’s deadly, but we dose ourselves with it endlessly.
I spend too much time reading on the internet, I admit, but at least I am reading and staying informed about our culture. I know freepers tend to be more well-read than the average American, and we do care. I just wonder how we can get our other friends and neighbors off the “drug” and into more productive lives!
