A year ago this month, the attorney general for the District of Columbia let NBC News anchor David Gregory off scot-free for possession of a high capacity magazine because doing so would not promote public safety. Now, Irvin Nathan refuses to use that same prosecutorial discretion for an average citizen who violated a bizarre technicality that makes empty casings and shells a crime as serious as having an illegal firearm.

I wonder if they are this tough on the perps that use guns to commit their crimes in DC?
Possession of ammunition and components a criminal offense and arbitrary application of the law. Sounds like Mexico.
It was like pulling teeth trying to read this article at Washington Times. I absolutely HATE ‘mouse-over’ pop-up ads. My popup blocker does nothing with them. I hate them. I won’t be going back to the site.
That said, after reading the article, it is clear the ex-wife and the DC police colluded to make an example out of this man. They should all be put in prison.
Heck, Roberts might be the one they need.
A real gamble here on a jury trial, but I don’t see another suitable process. It is DC, after all...
The article clearly indicates the ‘angry’ ex-wife was the catalyst for this whole charade.
The sabots? Could not agree that those are actually ammunition. Sheesh, that means the nails and chain links I use in my blunderbuss are ammo, and we all know that ain’t true.
I hope this guy gets a fair shake at trial, and the court sets the record so he can pursue the DCPD and his ex-wife for civil damages.
Time for this silliness to stop.
Where’s the NRA in this ?
They would do this to us nationally in a heartbeat if they could.
It might feel like Berlin in 1932, but this time Goldstein has an AR-15.
File it under “The road to CW2.”
David Gregory cowered in the protection of Am-1. Am-2 has no such protection.
Sad
Yet another DA in serious need of a hemp necktie.....
His ex-wifey stirred this up.
“David Gregory cowered in the protection of Am-1. Am-2 has no such protection.”
David Gregory is a member of the elite, pushing the citizen disarmament the elite want. Of course the rules do not apply to him. What do you thing we have? A nation under the rule of law?
‘cisely, my brother...’cisely!
Must be white.
Absolutely. A lot of people knock California (where I live) for being insanely anti-gun, but this proves there are far worse places - DC and NYC being a couple of examples. My daughters used to wear inoperable cartridge rounds on necklace chains, in SF without any problem. I found shotgun shells in the crawl-space under my home after buying it from a cop, in DC I would be arrested while being innocent. I don't understand how ammunition is equated as equal to a firearm. Sh*t for brains running DC, but we all know that.
