This is so stupid. Cap a guy in an ally with a revolver and seed the crime scene with marked spent casings from some other gun. Mark all the bullets? Use stolen rounds in your next 7-11 hold up. This has FUBAR written all over it.

And I’m sure that would stop criminals from doing it.

The law requires that the individual weapon ID data not just be etched on the firing pin but also the breech face (bolt, breech-block).

Certifying these weapons will require state inspectors either at the gun factories or at a destination point(s) in California of the shipped firearms. The inspectors would have to disassemble the product and check the micro-stamps microscopically or fire the weapon and put the hull under the microscope. Or the weapon would be shipped disassembled. The state might contract bonded third parties to do the inspections at the factories.

Whatever, a new layer of bureaucracy will be required to enforce this new mandate.

They will need to have the gun put the SAME tracking number on the actual bullet that is on the cartridge case, and tie those to the gun, and then to the owner! Good luck! LOL!!

“So the FULL autos and REVOLVERS get a pass??”

Yes! revolvers don’t leave empty cartridge cases at the crime scene, anyway.

“How about a law that dictates that bullets must have the name of an anti-liberty socialist on them?”

How about a law dictating that bullets may only be fired at anti-liberty socialists?

Or, is that the same thing you were getting at?

Iread an article recently that hypothesized that America was in a liberalism bubble.

Even if the bubble bursts, there remains residual damage that will be capitalized upon by the next Leftist wave.

There is only the hope of a deep spiritual revival to save us. Nothing short of a miraculous healing of the consciences of Americans will help us.

But will they stop selling to LEO in California? Stop servicing LEO guns as well?

Exactly. Not just S&W, either. ALL the gun companies should immediately stop selling to government and LEO agencies in Kalifornia.

When the contracts with the Feds expire, either re-word them to reflect a more favorable treatment or cancel and stop selling to the Feds until after the 2014 or possibly 2016 election cycle.

That will be a big step in the right direction.

I used to say that when a state would get overbearing as to taxes, restrictions etc on cigarettes, so just REFUSE to sell cigarettes in the state that doesn’t want your business.

Or like oil companies, 7/11 (Southland??) etc saying they back MADD and all the DUI checkpoints.

IF you really cared, you would stop selling single cans of beer, you wouldn’t sell beer in your gas stations (never did get that one)and you wouldn’t sell COLD beer -

That is if you REALLY wanted to put a big dent in drunk driving — Sure there are other ways to get it but no sense making it so easy.

The microstamp would leave a tiny etching identifying the make, model and serial number of the weapon that fired a bullet

Misleading, at best. At worst, an outright lie.

The microstamp leaves NOTHING on the bullet. The microstamp is intended to leave an imprint on the primer.

Good luck using a microstamp to track down a weapon used by a criminal who polices his brass, or a revolver.

I’ve been removed from jury pools on two separate occasions for having a copy of the Constitution in the breast pocket of my suit jacket.

“I’ve been removed from jury pools on two separate occasions for having a copy of the Constitution in the breast pocket of my suit jacket.”

Yeah, we live in a parallel universe. “The Intellectual Few,” those who “know” that they are “right” about “everything,” want you to let them be in charge. A thoughtful jury is an oxymoron when the lawyers are through with their “challenges.”

Thanks...didn't know that but I'm not very familiar with guns apart from the fact they fire and protect you. Never fired one either But I am 100% in favor of our right to have them.

Criminals love this. Less guns in the hands of law abiding people.

They will make the manufacturers design it so that removing the pin disables the weapon totally or something equally stupid.

That doesn’t mean diddly-squat unless S&W stop selling to Calif. cops also. Parts, service, the whole nine yards. (See Ronnie Barrett for reference.)
