Did Darwin plagiarize his evolution theory?
by Jerry Bergman
Some historians believe that all of the major contributions with which Darwin is credited in regard to evolution theory, including natural selection, actually were plagiarized from other scientists. Many, if not most, of Darwins major ideas are found in earlier works, especially those by his grandfather Erasmus Darwin. Charles Darwin rarely (if ever) gave due credit to the many persons from whom he liberally borrowed. This review looks at the evidence for this position, concluding that much evidence exists to support this controversial view.
wikipedia.org Erasmus-Darwin Erasmus Darwin (17311802) A common (but erroneous) conclusion is that Charles Darwin conceived modern biological evolution, including natural selection.1 An example of statements commonly found in the scientific literature indicating this would be the comment by Michael Fitch: Not until Darwin, did anyone draw the same conclusion except Alfred R. Wallace. But Darwin undoubtedly preceded him in the conception of the theory of evolution by natural selection.2 A study of the works of pre-Darwinian biologists shows that, in contrast to this common assumption, Darwin was not the first modern biologist to develop the idea of organic evolution by natural selection.3,4
Furthermore, most (if not all) of the major ideas credited to Darwin actually were discussed in print by others before him. De Vries noted that some critics have even concluded that Darwin did not make any major new contributions to the theory of evolution by natural selection.5 A study of the history of evolution shows that Darwin borrowed all of his major ideassome feel plagiarized would be a more accurate wordwithout giving due credit to these people. A few examples are discussed below.

Incredible talent. Wow.
Did you see Inherit the Wind as an adolescent and then get stuck in that mind set for your entire life?
Or do you have some sort of deep-rooted religious issues?
In before Gaia is 6,245 years old.
Since Creationist scammers actually claim that Creationism is not religion your question is irrelevant.
Finding fossilized human skeleletons in undisturbed, geologically early strata ought to do it.
Do you understand your assumptions?
“Since Creationist scammers actually claim that Creationism is not religion your question is irrelevant.”
So you take those who you call scammers at their word?
Your genius is astounding.
Well if your point is that they are liars then you defending them so passionately on this thread as if you are one yourself, is a a rather strange argument to make in their defense.
Why Teaching Creationism in the Public Schools is Not Teaching Religion(March 23, 2006)
Yes, I do. And no matter what your proposed timeline is, some strata is earlier than others.
More-so, its the point I was making that got you so upset.
Now you seem to agree with me as a strategy for disagreeing with me???
That is Creationist Science exactly !
“if your point is that they are liars then [why are] you defending them so passionately on this thread”
You’ve lost any sense of rationality or coherence with reality.
Are you telling me that humans who built the pyramids couldn't have built the ark??????
Here, smarty pants. Explain this graph. Answer two questions: (1) What mechanism caused the human lifespans to decline. (2) How could Moses (the author of Genesis) have MADE UP a perfect exponential decay curve?
How do they date rock that doesn’t have any fossils in it?
Einstein built on previous work to come up with the Theory of Relativity, and Newton built on previous work to come up with the Theory of Gravity. We often remember the people who synthesized a bunch of different ideas into a coherent, systematic whole, better than we remember the people with those scattered ideas.
This reminds me of a discussion I was having earlier about whether Steve Jobs was creative or not. The other guy was pointing out that MP3 players existed before the iPod, and music organizers existed before iTunes. Yes, but Jobs’s genius was figuring out how to combine the two into a system. So which made history: Winamp and the Diamond Rio, or iTunes and the iPod?
Wow that's great science and complex math now.
It validates that the average human lifespan is down to 26 years now. In a few more decades we will die of old age before we are born.
