Print-a-pizza!
Well, I think some liberty is being taken with the concept of printing here. It sounds like a controlled extrusion process. But still bringing CAM into the kitchen sounds like a plus, and why do it only on space ships? Why not on earth? Punch in the recipe, or connect it to your computer somehow (USB? Bluetooth?) and furnish the indicated ingredients to the hoppers. Food Processor Deluxe. Extra cost for a cool baking feature, though you could as well just take the output and cook it conventionally or via microwave.
And imagine using similar techniques for cookies. Gone is the mixing, the rolling, the flour mess, yet without having to buy dough. The Compu-Cookie mixer/press!
“It sounds like a controlled extrusion process”
No, it is not extrusion. It is more like a CT scan only instead it is print.
CT scan is a layer by layer image that is assembled into a 3D image.
3D printing is a image that is transformed into an object by layer by layer printing of a subtance.
