New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's re-election campaign and the state's Republican Party committee have received subpoenas from federal prosecutors investigating allegations that his aides created traffic jams as political payback.
Mark Sheridan, a lawyer representing Christie for Governor and the Republican State Committee, tells The Associated Press the subpoenas are for documents related to the closure of traffic lanes near the George Washington Bridge.
A state legislative committee investigating the traffic jams has also issued subpoenas to the two organizations.
Sheridan says the Republican governor's campaign and the party will cooperate with investigators.
The traffic lane closures created gridlock in the town of Fort Lee in September. Documents gathered by legislators suggest the lanes were closed as political payback, possibly because Fort Lee's mayor declined to endorse Christie.

Oh Goodie. Holder and Soetoro want to take this to a new level - put the Republican Presidential candidate in jail.
How Soviet of them.
Good Job Darrell Issa! You left Holder on his throne at the JustUs department (er, crib).
He doesn’t like you for that. Just thinks you’re weak. Now he’s attacking.
One of these days, our side (but not in my lifetime) will learn how to play hardball politics like this...
Yet nothing on Benghazi or IRS Gate. Ain’t that special?
Comply only after the IRS is fairly investigated.
(Not intended to imply that I’m defending Christie; rather, it’s a bash against the feds for cherry-picking which cases to pursue.)
Christie is the NYC foil to Cuomo and De Blasio. He must be punished so these other 2 can accomplish their commie agenda.
Oh, how he must long for the good old Sandy photo op days, when both parties couldn’t schlobber themselves enough over one another. Oh, well, love fades.
If I were the Dems I would lay off Christie, he’s a greater ally to them as the “GOP Presidential Nomination” than he is a damaged GOP candidate.
Call Christie soup stock, because he is boned.
Democrats view politics as bloodsport. They destroy and eviscerate their opponents. They play to win at all costs.
Until Republicans do they same thing back to the Dems, they can expect more of the same. Dems have absolutely no respect for the hapless and naive Pubbies.
On the other hand, Dems fear the Tea Party. We have principles, we mobilize, we support, and we vote. We fight back.
Agree. He’s manageable. He’s an easy mark.
The love really has faded. This is serious, got to clear the decks for the launch of Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless. For this, Governor Christie has to be pictured as MORE autocratic and tyrannical than even Herself.
After all, what Herself did was halfway around the world, while this traffic snafu happened RIGHT HERE in the territory once known as “the United States of America”.
And you just cannot ignore that.
Prove what you say...I don’t see anybody cowering in fright from the Tea Party. Too damn bad, but at least where I sit it ain’t so.
Where are all the GOP governors to defend Christie? Where are all the GOP Rino’s to defend Christie? Where are all those democrats Christie
has worked with? Why haven’t they come to his defense?
Good riddance to fat Christie.
Of course it’s bloodsport. It is for all the marbles. If we lose our Republic, there is no tomorrow for the Rule of Law, or Freedom.
We all like to think of our Founding Fathers as honorable men.
They were.
But they knew the stakes, too. On 4/19/1775, we stood up at Concord Bridge, fought by the rules as the British dictated them, and got shot to pieces.
It was only after the British began their march back to Boston, and the Minutemen sniped at them, guerrill-style, that our side inflicted significant damage. The British were highly insulted that we didn’t fight “fair.”
When the gunfire starts, there is only one rule: He who wins, lives.
Our politics should be conducted the same way.
Excellent post.
