Widow tells ‘GMA’: Put theater shooter in prison for life
The Tampa Tribune ^ | January 23, 2014 | Rick Mayer

Posted on 01/23/2014 8:42:56 AM PST by 4Runner

Nicole Oulson told a national television audience today that she wants Curtis Reeves, the man accused of killing her husband in a Wesley Chapel movie theater, to spend the rest of his life in prison.

“He brought an unfair life sentence to me to have to raise my daughter alone, to have to live without the love of my life, for my daughter to grow up without her daddy by her side for graduation and marriage,” Oulson said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “It was so unnecessary, it was for no reason. So I want him behind bars and to be punished for his senseless act.

If you want to discuss self centered, I give you a geezer who lives at the movies, making a habit of confronting anyone who might slightly intrude on his movie experience.
He did the same thing, sans gunshot, 2 weeks earlier, even following a young woman to a restroom.

This time the lazy geezer had to ruin life for a young couple who had a rare chance to catch a movie together.

The guy shot an un-armed man in a movie theater because he didn’t quit texting when told to. There is no justification for the shoot. NONE

Oh come on! "The guy" is a retired cop. The shooting is fully justified because Mr Text did not Respect His Authoratah. Do I really need a </sarcasm> tag???

What completely uncharitable comments. The sentence for texting in a theatre should not be death. Something is wrong with the man who murdered her husband.

So if you annoy me I can shoot you?

You can shoot anyone you like, for any reason you like, as long as you are prepared to accept the consequences.

However, I wondered why the deceased father stated he was texting his 3 year old daughter.

...what I’m wondering is how a deceased anybody is able to state anything...

Unless he was just going to the restroom himself and she was a hysterical “me too look at me” sort of gal.

You can’t shoot and kill someone for throwing popcorn on you.

You can if you're a cop.

All he needs to say is "I felt threatened" and he's off the hook.

Mr. K and Alaska Wolf will defend you, shoulder to shoulder with the other boys in blue.

Neither group behaved properly in public. Violations on several counts of unsocial behavior.

Actions have consequences.

Saying “make me” will not generate a good result.

What does that have to do with him being or not being a bad boy or a hothead?

In the first place, and despite your opinionated blathering, you have no more idea of what kind of guy the victim was than I do. But I would suggest that 7 years honorable military service is a good indication that someone is not a "hot-headed bad boy type who mouthed off to anyone who came across as an authority figure." Those types generally aren't successful in the military. Their careers tend to be short and less than honorable. But based on Reeves and his background, I would suspect that they would find a home in the Tampa Police Department.

Your man was the instigator of the incident. He overreacted and shot a man to death for no valid reason. He deserves everything the courts can throw at him. And if it makes his victim's widow feel better to go on "Good Morning America" and tell the world what she thinks of the colossal prick who murdered her husband then more power to her. Reeves gave her that right.

Especially Mrs. Reeves the ex-cop’s wife who reports state was present with him in the theater. She has not been reported to have made any statements. Does the defense know something the media doesn’t know and we don’t know, and instead is holding it for the trial?

"However, had the deceased not been anoying Reeves and had not thrown popcorn in his face, he would not be dead. So if you annoy me I can shoot you? "

Nice liberal mental leap from point A, completely over B,C,D,.... all the way to Z

No, he did NOT say if you annoy someone its OK to shoot them.

What he said was to annoy someone can have consequences. Not all of those consequences are OK. It could be a nasty look, or roll-your-eyes, or anything. Not "its OK to shoot you"

That is called a non-sequitor. And it shows an inability to grasp a point and continue the thought to logical conclusions, so YOU jump to an illogical one and then accuse the other person of it.

Stop that. *rolls eyes*

Well guys,, have to run. I support the poor mom, think Beiber was impersonating Don Johnson, i’m working on a cure for mad cow disease, think Florida geezers are a self important menace, and think the bad Lieutenant hurts legitimate CCW people.

Just discussing here but what if the victim threatened the shooter? The shooter pulls the gun and the victim tells him he’s going to shove the gun up his ass and moves toward him?

Still doesn't justify it. Florida law says that you have to be in iminent danger of death or great bodily harm before using deadly force. There is no way that your scenario could fall under that.

Never bring popcorn to a gunfight.

OO .... can't wait until cell phones are legal on airliners. Look for stranglings and fisticuffs. Can't wait for the trial on the Oulsen hit. Is there a white Johnny Cochrane out there?

you mus acquit!"

“Maybe some other citizens will step forward to tell tales of how the shooting victim hassled them over something or another.”

Maybe. But none have yet and there’s no reason to think any will. Yet, at least one came out with regard to this shooter almost immediately. He must have made a real impression on the person.
