In 2009, Carlos Slim, the second-richest man in the world, invested $250 million in a lending agreement with the New York Times. Now, the Mexican billionaire is set to double that investment -- and it could hurt the Times.
Bloomberg's Edmund Lee reports:

After dropping a billion on the Boston Globe ... $250 million on our building ... a bundle on granny's estate taxes ... and having our readership and ad revenues tank ... we got desperate.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch. ;p
Obama will find some pretext for bailing them out — just you watch.
Too bad Slim Shady won’t use his wealth to keep his fellow Mexicans in MEX
Is he related to Carlos Danger?
OK, so you can pick up the next round at Molly’s.
Bwahahahaha...
Good, anything to bleed and weaken these sleazy lying creatures.
So the second richest man in the world is Mexican? Make me wonder is this why our politicians are so blind to the immigration from Mexico? Is that his personal request?
“By selling 15.9 million shares at a fraction of their market value, the company risked giving up more than $100 million it could raise through an offering to the public.”
In other words the public might’ve had a say in the reporting, and they didn’t want that?
I wonder if he knows Carlos Danger? :-)
Yep, they’re too big to fail. And he’ll trot out some republicans to back him.
The family not the smartest investor's
A 263-acre estate on the New York-Connecticut border that formerly was owned by the Sulzberger clan (the New York Times family) has come on the market in the last week for $95,000,000.
Coverage of the listing has been all over the news in the last few days, including in a piece on CNBC this morning. Known as Hillandale, the estate is owned by travel company owner Gilbert Haroche and his wife Charlene, who purchased it in 1992 for $6.7 million from the Sulzberger Family.

The Slimes has nothing left to sell off...the cupboard is bare..
Carlos Slim Still Reaping Big Rewards From NY Times Loan
I just mailed them back a pre paid NYT envelope that I received in one of their solicitations. I stuffed it full of junk mail to run up their postage costs. It is worth to get on a left wing mailing list so you can mail them back their trash without identifying yourself and they pay for it.
Sweet..... liberals once again thinking OPM is free.
That guy looks like someone I would have put into a garbage can and rolled down a flight of stairs in high school, or just punched in the face if I was having a bad day, and happened to be walking past “him”. That isn’t a real man - just a biological male. Basically, a ‘Pajama Boy’.
If they still have an ownership of the building, that may be what Slim is after. He has to know the old grey whore is threadbare and moribund.
