In a way, you're very correct. Even if it turned out that this principal was breaking district policies, it is very unlikely that she could be summarily fired. No, to protect themselves from getting caught in their own schemes, public employees have a rigorous review system which can take months, if not years, to conclude all appeals. Meanwhile, the public employee continues to get salary, benefits, vacation time, sick time, even if their 'job' consists of showing up daily to sit at a table reading a book while the process continues.

Because this is what is happening across the country while districts review the impact of criminal charges against teachers who molested students, hit students, etc.

Most religions teach that the retribution against evil occurs immediately, that punishments are dealt out at the time of the crime, not years or decades later. 'Why do I need to bother going to church? I can just live until my death bed and summon a priest to hear my confession and absolve me of sins.' That thought certainly predates modern times.
