If all goes according to plan, Hollywood icon Leonardo DiCaprio will blast into space aboard the maiden voyage of Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic spaceship sometime this year, opening up a new era of civilian space travel. This development might only be remarkable as the fulfillment of a dream long predicted by futurists and technophiles, were it not for the fact that Messrs. Branson and DiCaprio are prominent environmentalist celebrities who have warned of a coming ecological catastrophe if we fail to address our carbon problem.

The activism, environment, animal rights etc.. Initially helps them get airhead women. It becomes self renewing over time.
Virgin Galactic’s “spaceship” doesn’t reach orbit.
Deonardo Di Caprio is an actor. He may be attractive and skillful but he essentially makes his living pretending to be other people who have been imagined by writers. His hypocritical politically correct posturing is easily dismissed. However Richard Branson is a man of innovation and accomplishment. Needless to say reasonable people should disagree with his politics and public positions. Yet he is trying to do something creative and potentially very beneficial to mankind. The irony is that his politics and politically correct postures are essentially self inhibiting his project. It is doubtful he would have started Virgin Atlantic today if he followed his own reservations about burning jet fuel at high altitudes. “Green” restricts creativity progress and prosperity.

Exactly. If you want space tourism the Russians have sent one or two to the International Space Station for megabucks. You get to orbit the earth quite a bit with that tour package.
I would also add Lena Dunham, but then the ship would never be able to leave the ground.

Leonardo DiCaprio is a lunatic environmentalist and hypocrite. However, he is a damn good actor and seems to be getting better with experience. He has done marvelous work in many rolls. He also makes very good decisions as to which rolls he takes.
I hope DiCrapio stays out there. One less smart-ass Hollywood know-it-all.

We should start a petition on Whithouse.gov demanding Leo personally plant the proper amount of trees...er indulgences to offset the carbon that rocket pumps into the atmosphere.

Perhaps he’ll throw the start switch on Elysium. Wouldn’t it be great to put all our “progressives” into orbit and leave conservatives “trapped” on earth?
