What in the hell are we advising them for? If anything, we should be advising Ethiopia on how to overrun the entire country.

I believe Ethiopia just pulled their troops out of western Somalia. They are in no condition to occupy the country and are probably much more concerned with the imminent collapse of Eritrea to the north.
If peace is possible in Somalia (despite the UN and AU) it probably will need to come from Somaliland and Puntland, the two autonomous regions.
