he was accused of making money through direct control of this or that and using it to surround himself with his own power base and even armed groups.

He was executed, as were 5 staff members, reports suggest 200 members of the Jang extended family were sent to the camps. Some say 2+ thousands of people were rounded up and sent to the camps in total.
