[T]he BSA, which is based in Irving, announced last week that it is raising annual membership dues from $15 to $24 per Scout a 60 percent increase beginning Jan. 1, 2014.
Chief Scout Executive Wayne Brock . . . and BSA staff did not mention how much revenue might be lost from the defection of conservative families that leave the organization because of recent membership changes that allow [homosexual] youth to be Scouts.
. . .
The BSA once boasted of five million members back in the 1950s when the United States population was about half of what it is today. BSA now claims 2.2 million members. And it will be interesting to see whether headquarters will openly acknowledge how many members remain after annual registration for 2014.

I hope they have huge decreases in the number of Scouts, but apparently they expect that.
I am also VERY disappointed with my church's decision to continue to support scouts. I still can't believe the leaders chose to do that.
I don’t see the Sodomy badge on this list.
Remember, scouts use the Buddy system. No one will want to bunk with the openly Gay kid. And no scout can bunk alone in a tent.
They gayed, they paid.
The leadership of the BSA reflects the quality of leadership generally.
I’ve never seen a country with so few actual leaders in it. Never have I seen so many think they can act one way and expect their charges to behave in ways that are more moral and disciplined than their own.
This is going to be another legacy of the 60’s. Worst decade for the US, ever.
The Locust generation leaving its mark.
There's a half-dozen men who serve on the Troop Committee, most of whom were Eagle Scouts. So long as the national level leaves us alone, we'll continue to do our thing.
Our financial support is strong, thanks to being in one of the 10 largest parishes in the country, whose parishioners gladly buy our popcorn, Christmas wreaths, and other fundraisers.
BTW, I just wrote a dues check for $112, which included $12 for the Boys Life subscription. The cost for the monthly campouts is usually $30-$40, money well spent. November's campout was rifle shooting.
I've already started to save for the cost of the week-long summer camp, about $600. Last year, they went to Camp Daniel Boone in NC, this year is Colorado Springs.
