Any health insurer providing coverage in Connecticut will now have to include sex-change surgery and hormone therapy in their plans, as ordered by the state insurance department.

The Hartford Courant reported that the state agency sent out a notice to insurance companies, ordering that “individuals with gender dysphoria … are not denied access to medically necessary care because of the individuals’ gender identity or gender expression.”

Now state officials are advancing on that notice with active campaigns.

Deputy insurance commissioner Anne Melissa Dowling told the Courant that the state wanted to “go out and affirmatively make [the policy] very clear.”

Good question.

Whack-a-mole and add-a-dick-to-mes all around!

I bet Obama would like this to be national policy. So, the question arises as to how this decision was reached--on the say-so of one insurance commissioner, through some administrative process, or by external pressure brought from the Federal Government.

Over 65 and need dialysis? Sorry. You cost too much. Take the blue pill.

Mentally ill and feel like surgery would be a fun way to fix your sexual confusion? Of course that's covered! Why wouldn't it be??

What if you are over 65, get a sex change operation and then develop a need for dialysis as a side effect? Since you are a known Democrat do you get the dialysis?

Sorry, Robert, your knee replacement and dialysis have been declined.

However, if you'd like to become Roberta, you're good to go.

It will never happen, but insurance companies could have stopped this type of craziness by taking concerted action against one state and all withdrawing from the state market.

I firmly believe that neither age nor illness are actually important aspects. As you imply: healthcare of various types will be made available to the people who vote correctly. Those of us who are "not on board" with certain political views will be denied coverage and shunted off to early deaths.

I believe it 100%.

So far it seems that Obamacare gives the federal government to poser to dictate practically anything so becoming national policy is not out of the question.

You better believe that age is important. Very important. Rationing is essential because the resources are not available to provide what this new law mandates. Rationing based on age will be the first change to be implemented.

I’m a young man trapped in an old body.

Can I force insurance companies to pay for my plastic surgery because I suffer from age dysphoria?

It’s already begun. Women over the age of 70, for example, are now no longer to be given mammograms. This is despite the fact that a mammogram is a fairly inexpensive test, 70 is not that old and the person could have many good years ahead of her (even working years!), and many people actually do develop breast cancer after 70.

Instead, we are forced to pay for the sex-change operation of young nutcases who will probably commit suicide a couple of years later when they discover they’re still not happy.

all head for Connecticut

No, one of the reasons policies will be more expensive under Obamney Care is that all policies will have to cover this stuff. This is why all those “substandard” policies were canceled.
