NASHUA — Police are investigating the death of a number of ducks allegedly hit by a vehicle operated by one of the city's state representatives. State Rep. David Campbell, D-Nashua, reportedly ran over the ducks at a speed of about 15 mph in the driveway of the Crowne Royal Hotel in Nashua. The incident is said to have occurred on Monday, Dec. 23, The Telegraph of Nashua reported Sunday. Campbell issued an apology Sunday evening, received by the New Hampshire Union Leader Monday morning, explaining the incident.

A hotel guest told police that on arriving at the hotel by shuttle from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, he saw bystanders feeding some 20 ducks near the hotel.

Campbell's vehicle soon turned onto the hotel access road, the witness said. The guest told the newspaper that after seeing Campbell's BMW sedan hit the ducks, he ran after the vehicle and snapped a photograph of its House-issued license plate.

The man also claimed that Campbell suggested to him the ducks should have gotten out of the way.

The duck incident was reported to police; Campbell later answered police questions.

In an email, Campbell said, "Even though the police have yet to complete their investigation, I feel it is necessary to issue a statement:

"I am deeply sorry that I accidentally ran over several wild ducks near the Crowne Plaza last Monday night. This occurred while some people were feeding the ducks in the roadway nearby. I know it greatly upset them, as it did me. In spite of the accusations to the contrary, this was accidental, unintentional and deeply affected me then and now.

Here in Florida the ducks have more rights then the drivers.

We have these 4 ft tall blue herons that wander across the roads REALLY slowly.

Then one day on the interstate
They suddenly lose control
They swerve to miss a baby duck
They’re squashed beneath a produce truck

But they drove with pride...

And as the crowds drive past a little flat car
You know they saved a lot of gas
But they didnt get far
In a Yugo

In New Hampshire, the legislature meets for about two weeks per year and the pay is about $250/term. Obviously, as a part-time job, it does offer the opportunity for influence peddling, but far less than the “professional” legislatures in the other 49, and largely explains why New Hampshire is an island of near-sanity in the cesspool that is the Northeast. I wish Congress met for only two weeks a year.

Democrats feels the exact same way about people

They would run over the ‘little people’ who get in their way, if they could

And I do mean literally.

Remember Bill Ayers (Obama’s friend who wrote his book and introduced him to the political world) said he would be OK with EXECUTING up to 30 million people in order to achieve socialism in the USA

Much as I enjoy the ridicule of a Democrat, a duck is just a duck.

Someone should investigate if the ducks are protected by the
Migratory Bird Act, and then bring charges accordingly, if they are.

Is there a duck shortage that I’m not aware of? /s I really don’t like these signs warning of birds crossing, etc. Most people are not going to purposefully run over any animal.

(and now for the truth)

In an email, Campbell said, "Now that the police have been called in to investigate by that nosy guy with a camera, I feel it is necessary to issue a statement:

"I am deeply sorry that I got caught when I accidentally ran over several wild ducks near the Crowne Plaza last Monday night. This occurred while some 'little' people were feeding the ducks in the roadway nearby. I know it greatly upset them, as it did me, because I was trying to run over them and not the ducks. In spite of the accusations, eyewitness statements, and photos to the contrary, this was accidental, unintentional and deeply affected me then and now. I wanted those duck feeders dead so they wouldn't interfere with me getting to the hotel. Don't they know who I am ?"
