Im cynical. Maybe it was a ploy to boost ratings all along. That was my suspicion as well. Before he was suspended, I had never heard of Phil Robertson. I had heard of Duck Dynasty, but thought it was some sort of children's program featuring Daffy Duck or something like that. Now, Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty are over the news and have become household words.

If I were Phil I’d tell them to Duck Off and go to another network.

Phil could just keep talking about this stuff every episode and see if A&E will buy out their contract.
Then onto a better network.

I don’t think anything sinister here happened from Robertson family
I believe A&E lawyers were informed by Robertson family lawyers that no Phil was a “breach of contract”...and meant contract could be nullified in arbitration or court. A&E would have lost millions paying off the Robertsons in a contract breach...and Robertsons would have been free agents
You don’t think this happens...look what happened with Michael Savage and TalkRadio Net earlier this year...Savage won a breach of contract claim and allowed to walk with a payoff

A&E is laughing all the way to the bank. Why so cynical? Don't you think the Gay Mafia will come at A & E over this walk back?

Phil Robertson can win a principled PR battle with the left while folks like Boehner and McConnell are afraid to say boo!

Hah, me too! I thought it was Duck Dodgers; the Daffy Duck cartoon!
I don’t have cable; and I like it that way.
People seem to think they have watch the same programs everyone else watches just to “be in touch”. I don’t care. I read; watch Netflix, free channels over the air; or Hulu. And of course FreeRepublic!
I like the bumper sticker I saw in the 80’s: “Kill Your Television”!

This quacks me up. As sincere as A&E tries to sound, one would have to be an idiot to think that this was about anything but the money A&E was going to lose without their #1 program.

We will also use this moment to launch a national public service campaign (PSA) promoting unity, tolerance and acceptance among all people, a message that supports our core values as a company, and the values found in Duck Dynasty. These PSAs will air across our entire portfolio. You can take your PSAs and shove them.

I don't watch a whole lot of TV either, but I enjoy USC football, Book TV, and The O'Reilly Factor when Laura Ingraham is guest-hosting.

Notice, no word from Nancy Dubuc, the CEO who suspended him. It looks like the parent companies are calling the shots.
