New York federal judge rules NSA phone surveillance is legal

A federal judge in New York has ruled that the National Security Agency's massive collection of American citizens' telephone records is both legal and useful.

U.S. District Judge William Pauley wrote in his opinion issued Friday that the program "represents the government's counter-punch" to eliminate al-Qaeda's terror network.

Pauley raised the specter of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and how the phone data-collection system could have helped investigators connect the dots before the attacks occurred.

Pauley's decision appears to conflict with a ruling earlier this month by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon, who granted a preliminary injunction against the collecting of phone records of two men who had challenged the program.

He said that the program likely violates the U.S. Constitution's ban on unreasonable search.

Just four words,”New York Tard central”.
A collective nest of anti-American communist and rejects of the human race. One of the few places where an IQ over a
hundred need not reside. I just wish they would stay there
because they just foul up everything, anywhere they go.

But because it made the public airwaves under a Dem, the MSM is not jumping all over this. If it had hit the fan in 06, they would have at least done their job, and for once, I would have agreed with them. Now, it’s all a TEA Party “fake scandal,” and spun as such. Nothing is more frightening than the MSM double standard on such things as the Ruby Ridge massacre and the raid on the Gonzalez residence in Florida, and this. These people are as bad as Goebels.

Dear Rapscallion, please don’t forget sarc tab in future. It will help you avoid being misunderstood. Dear Godebert, please see Raspcallion’s comments at the beginning of this thread, I think No. 4 or thereabouts.

Really?

Not hardly, our Constitution does not permit the government to spy on it's own citizens and I'm pretty fed up by all of those claiming that a free people must be spied upon, lest they are terrorists in the making!

I'm also sick of hearing that "if we have nothing to hide, why should we object?"

I might have nothing at all to hide but the thought that I used to live in a country that honored my privacy but now live in Nazi Germany/Communist Russia/China/No. Korea/Cuba, etc!

I'm now treated as guilty until I prove myself innocent and frankly, don't much care for that tag, coming from a group of folk that include child predators, felons, tax-cheats, perverts, racists and all other manner of miscreants called the Federal/State and local government.

Count me among those that love their country but hate their government!

He only posted the "good decision" comment (#2) on this thread. No misunderstanding on my part.

True.

However, once in a while this little suspicion comes into my pea brain, wondering if either of the last 2 elections were legal—know what I mean?

They probably were; it’s just hard for me to imagine that enough of our countrymen are that stupid! I guess we are now reaping what the NEA has sown.

Wanna bet? A meth ring was busted here in Macon, GA. last spring. All the underlings got a year or two suspended along with big fines but the kingpin got off scot-free thanks to his shyster lawyer using their NSA crap against the DA. All his charges were dropped and he walked.

The reason I know this is one of the underlings is family-much as I hate to admit the worthless scumbag is related to me!

I guess it would be safe to say that I can spy on Judge Pauley without any recourse?

The day of reckoning is near. Friggin despots.

9-11 supposedly done by foreign nationals, mostly Saudis and our USA government spies on Americans, and forgets about the Saudis? Something is seriously wrong with this picture.

News anchors have stated today that the Obama White House won this decision. That must mean that Americans lost.

“Enforcing our immigration laws would have also worked without the need to violate our right to privacy”.

Both the corporatist GOP-E and the liberal owners of the Dems and the media ignore that cause and effect relationship.

Nothing is about Americans and common sense anymore and everything is political. Immigration is mostly about cheap labor and more votes, while disenfranchising and screwing most American citizens.
