There will be fewer people insured because a lot of people are having their insurance cancelled. Then on top of it, those who will be insured are the sicker ones, then on top of that, the government reimbursement will get less, so more and more doctors won't see those patients and there will be long waits...
Welcome to Obamacare!

And just wait till they start issuing orders to the doctors to match client with the care required....and prescriptions....don't forget all those complex prescription orders.

a local friend is elderly and frail. he has 9 doctors (doesn’t need to see them all every day, of course, but he has a doctor for each item that ails him... specialization is how medicine works these days)
anyway,
so far none of his doctors has said he’s willing to sign up to accept Obamacare patients.
none.

I have patients now on Medicaid who need to be seen by a psychiatrist. They can't find any who will take them.

What good will your $1000 premium and $10000 deductible do you if you can’t find a doctor to treat you?

Those signing up for private health care coverage on the ObamaCare exchanges may be in for an unpleasant surprise -- they'll have insurance, but they might have trouble getting the doctor to see them. Just as with Medicaid, analysts warn that if payments get too low, many doctors might start refusing to see patients. That will leave more and more patients jockeying to see fewer and fewer doctors. They emphasize, then, that having health insurance won't necessarily translate into access to health care. You didn't have to be a brain surgeon to have figured that out three plus years ago when Obamacare was passed in the dead of the night. Politicians (even some who opposed Obamacare) glibly talked as if obtaining medical insurance was entirely equivalent to having access to the medical care an individual needs. The fact is that insurance and care are different concepts. One can have insurance and yet not have access to the care needed. (The inverse is true as well: one can have no insurance and still have access to the required care.) Apparently the "low information" voters couldn't figure that out in 2012.

That’s what it is. It’s based on the same model.

They will just revoke the medical licenses of doctors who refuse these patients (Massachusetts is putting such a plan into effect right now).

We knew this was going to happen. All the new Medicaid enrollees will discover they can’t get doctors to take them, so they will be right back to waiting in emergency rooms when they get sick. The problem will be worse than it was before Obamacare screwed up everyone’s insurance.

Won’t be an issue for long. Expect that physicians MUST accept Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare insurance as a CONDITION OF LICENSURE.

The Medicaid expansion is going to be deadly. Huge growth in the Medicaid rolls, many with a TON of pre-existing conditions that are itching for treatment, and no growth in the provider base.
The non-Medicaid Obamare plans on their face aren't bad for providers -- higher reimbursement rates than Medicare in most places, and far higher than Medicaid. However, most people who are enrolling are those who are getting subsidies and electing Bronze or Silver plans with very high deductibles for most services that they have zero hope of actually having the cash to pay. The provider agreements put the credit risk of deductibles squarely on the providers, and providers are going to figure out very quickly that they are not going to get paid anything on any service which is subject to deductibles.

I imagine soon doctors will be compelled to accept all obamacare plans. I imagine it will become illegal to pay cash for services and even more of a severe punishment if you pay cash and do not have an approved obamacare plan. Politicians and the politically connected will be exempt. Sometimes you just have to take a pill.

It has already been hard to see a doctor in a timely fashion for years. I rarely get sick enough to see a doc, and when I do, it is critical enough that I don’t want to wait until next week to be seen. When the phone receptionist says “We have an opening on Friday of next week”, I tell her that I will be either dead or recovered by then. That ploy usually works.

Since I see more than 1 doctor to treat multiple auto immunes, You cannot help but notice the sings up that say NO MORE NEW MEDICARE AND TRICARE LIFE posters, along with the no use of perfumes, after shave, they forget those strong body soaps.
Our health care system will resemble the British model, 6 months to get an appointment, 6 months to get treatment.
We might as well go back to being our own doctors. Learn which vits and mins you need to treat minor illnesses.
