The left-wing is angry that his contributions to the war effort during WWII, cryptography, computer science, couldn't save him.

It’s almost like we’re talking about ancient history, isn’t it? Just like the movie “Biloxi Blues” where the two sodomites were shipped off to the stockade. Now they are the Golden Children and shall not be insulted.

All wings aside and all religion aside this sentence was brutal and extreme. It is not my place to pass judgment for this or any mans sins against God and his word. I am against the homosexual agenda but this is plain wrong.

I was familiar with and admired Alan Turing’s mathematical work, but had no idea he was a sodomite.

Therefore, this royal pardon—presumably ordered by the UK’s apparently gay Prime Minister—has precisely the opposite effect from that intended.

BFD....
Maybe the question should be, why was it illegal in the first place?

Where does Oscar Wilde go to get his reputation back?

Alan Turing, the British mathematician who laid the theoretical groundwork for modern computing and cracked coded messages from the Nazis, received a royal pardon on Tuesday.....

He was a WW2 hero so I have nothing against making a kind gesture to his name and whatever family remains. The same mind quirk that made him a mathematical genius probably made him gay>  There were other British gays who served high in their intelligence services who worked for the Russians and sabotaged Britain post war

Guy Francis de Moncy Burgess (16 April 1911 – 30 August 1963) was a British ... He was part of the Cambridge Five spy ring that passed Western secrets to the ... While assigned to the British embassy in Washington, Burgess lived with Kim  ...

Kim Philby   Guy Burgess etc

He wasn’t sentenced to castration. Look it up.

Did you know? Turing originally conceived his famous Test as a test of gender, not artificial intelligence.

Questionable headline, IMO - the law forbade homosexual acts, not homosexuality. A fine line, perhaps, but one that should be noted.

Headline: President Obama to pardon Sodom and Gomorrah,
Says times have changed. “Sodomy is an everyday occurance
and Gomorrah can be treated with antibiotics....”

Well then given the premise that sodomy is a likely byproduct of the great minds, let’s hope that no Greek nor Roman that contributed to the critical foundations of mathematics was a pedophile or murderer.

It is most unfortunate that such measures were taken to punish Turing. I would presume that his actions were with a consenting party. Oscar Wilde was given two years in prison, but his liaisons were with stupid poverty stricken young men. Nonetheless, Wilde was very badly treated in prison. He was reduced to 1101bs in weight and had dysentery, yet put back before recovery.

My way of looking at this business is simply that they do not wish to "pardon" and exonerate the man. They do not care a damn. What it seems to be is a sop and a kowtow to the now vocal and intimidating homosexual groups.

A number of Freepers seem to like "Downton Abbey"and excellent look at another era it is. I try to avoid it, though my spouse from England is a great fan. The last segment showed two young servants, either in the same room or adjacent. Another servant opens the door at night and there is the homosexual servant groping at the other young man.

Sure this could happen and there is old head footman Carson trying to sort things. Ok, so the offender gets the boot. There follows almost and incredible dialogue concerning everyone from the lord and master, to the incredulous serving girls. It just never stopped throughout the whole segment. Arguments about whether he should get a reference from Carson (without which he is dead employee wise). Whether the young man should go to the police. Even some girl saying the offended man "sort of brought it on himself". His fault because he was preening himself etc.

I was at Bletchley Park as a very minor radio operator in training for GCHQ in 1951. We were aware of "them". So very polite and quiet and did not bother anyone. (That I know of).
