They thought it was a kind holiday gesture, but dozens of Prosper students didn't get to deliver the Christmas cards they made for local veterans because of a VA policy against specific religious cards and phrasing.
The cards are still in North Texas, and the writers are disappointed their thank you's won't be seen by the people they were intended for.
"I'm hoping that it might make their day because their family might live far away, and they might not have somebody to celebrate Christmas with and I'd like them to know they've not been forgotten and somebody wanted to say thank you," said fourth grader Gracie Brown.
Gracie and her brother, Luke, put a lot of thought and effort into their Christmas cards.
"It includes Merry Christmas,' and when you open it up, it says 'Thank you for your service' and the American flag," said Luke.

We do this here in Virginia and there are no restrictions at all.
It’s really hard to believe some of this stuff is real. How do we overcome this, er, stuff?
The absurdity & stupidity of the va never ceases to amaze and confound Me.
America is now a country of Islam, for Moslems,
stolen from Americans by the undocumented First Moslem.
The Knights of Columbus will send them to serving troops through their military councils.
The VA can’t take good care of our veteran heroes health issues, but they can stifle Christian freedom of speech?
This is becoming one F’D UP Country.

It’s probably just one bureaucrat who is afraid some nameless faceless entity MIGHT be offended.
Any soldier so delicate that he’s offended by “Merry Christmas” needs to find another line of work.
I just read the article. They have a team of people that read the cards to make sure that nothing with so much as a “Merry Christmas”, or a “God Bless You”, get’s to any of the veterans!
“The absurdity & stupidity of the va never ceases to amaze and confound Me.”
I know, it’s almost like we are living in a foreign country where Americans are hated.
But the VA is a federal bureaucracy, and most are staffed by liberals. So as long as libtards continue to run the federal agencies, absurdity and stupidity will be the norm.
One of my observations regarding all agencies is their absurdity and stupidity has gotten worse now that one of their own is at the helm. The more obama gets by with, the more they feel entitled to get by with.
It’s only going to get worse until some political party gets in power and does a little push back. We all know that is not the GOP.
Oops. I went back and read it again. Apparently the cards with religious phrases can be offered those veterans that won’t be offended on a case by case basis.
A VA POLICY IS NOT A LAW ... WHOEVER STOPS ME AT THE DOOR WILL GET PUNCHED IN THE MOUTH.
But they didn't do this. They sent the cards back according to FoxNews.
The VA is doing what Obama wants. Obama could easily stop this, but this is what he wants. He has made his desires known over and over again.
..this comes from the Muslim lead WH.
“...VA policy against specific religious cards and phrasing.”
Mind bending, scream-out-loud horse sh*t.
Just what do you imagine this author thinks the word "holiday" means.
Statists first must corrupt the language so their message is not understood as it would certainly be rejected.
I question that the VA has a strict policy against such cards and wording. I happen to frequent a VA near my home and have seen a number of CHRISTMAS cards posted on the walls of veterans.
If the VA has such a policy, its probably high time to sue them for religious discrimination.
The same way we overcame the Cracker Barrel / Duck Dynasty B.S.
Get vocal. Get loud. Write the V.A. and encourage others to do so as well.
It's our turn to get bitchy and whiny. That's been the left's domain for far too long.
