9/11 Families 'Ecstatic' They Can Finally Sue Saudi Arabia
abc news ^ | December 20, 2013 | Aaron Katersky

Families of the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks today celebrated a federal court's ruling that allows relatives of people who died in the 9/11 terror attacks to sue Saudi Arabia.

Most of the hijackers who attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in 2001 were from Saudi Arabia, and the complaint states that much of the funding for the al-Qaeda terrorists came from Saudi Arabia.

An attempt to Saudi Arabia in 2002 was blocked by a federal court ruling that said the kingdom had sovereign immunity. That ruling was reversed Thursday by a three-judge federal panel.

… The ruling struck down an earlier decision that found Saudi Arabia immune from lawsuits. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said it's in the "interests of justice" to allow them to proceed.

You are correct sir. With the love affair going on between the govt and Saudi Arabia, there is utterly no chance of them ever collecting a penny.

It would mean attaching assets in the US, I think.

Be this as it may, it still seems weird. Saudi Arabia is mostly Sunni and the terrorists were Shiite. And the two factions hate each others’ guts in the name of Allah. So what is Saudi Arabia even doing bankrolling its own enemies, folks that would as soon bomb Riyadh as New York? Unless I have the actors corn fused here.

That seems to me as close to a frivolous lawsuit as you can get. If SA was responsible we would have declared war against them, instead this nebulous and elusive ‘war on terror’.

Besides, 0 ain't about to let his brothers get hurt.

OButthead is desperate for Saudi Arabia to be held liable and pay the families. That will vindicate him and we’ll see the concept of military justice wiped out in a flash.

Beware Ragheads, attack a U.S. outpost — you’re going to face Eric “The Schwantz” Holder.

I know that nothing can replace their loved ones but these people have already received at least a million each.
And this lawsuit will go nowhere.

How will they prove the Kingdom to be liable, and what else might be dug up during the trial?

I think that this just demonstrates again that Obama judges rule based on their feelings and popularity with their liberal lawyer friends, not on the laws and Constitution any more. Like that overturning of the Utah marriage law.

Wouldn’t that have to go through The Hague or something? Anyone know?

OTOH I suppose that even if the Saudis don’t respond, assets here in the US could be attached.

Well I guess Obama did come to the defense of the Sunni/Wahabi Kingdom after all. Obama’s Sunni cred lives on.

You can bet the Free Trader Communist Globalists who protect Saudi Terrorists will keep preventing 9/11 victims from collecting from the biggest supporter of Islamic Terrorism

Families should have collected years ago...you support Islamic Terrorism if you think they shouldn’t

Global Muslim Bloc Launches War On Free Speech In West

In its 94-page document on "Islamophobia," the Saudi-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation lists as potential felonies: expressing "ideas that Muslims are inclined to violence" and "Islam is an inherently expansionist religion."

Guys, having had a lot of experience collecting money, I can say a couple things.

One, these plaintiffs will file their original petition or second or fifth or whatever against some of these Saudi scum personally and their dogs and cats and maids and drivers and so on. And, many of these folks have stationery assets in the US. Also recall that some plaintiffs just took an NYC office building away from Iran. So, “collecting” against a sovereign by good, aggressive attorneys can happen and be very rewarding!

Now, one of you talked about the Saudi’s “buddies” in the US govt., yes, that is a whole nether ball game. And, whichever one of you said that is right. If Bush 41 or 43 were still in office, the prez or state could find a way to block any forfeiture action against Saudi Assets. That’s called “politics”. What Obama might do insofar as protecting these vermin is a bit of a mystery. I don’t know.
