North Korea has sent a fax to South Korea threatening to “strike mercilessly without notice” after protests against the secretive regime.

The message warned that North Korea would strike if “the provocation against our highest dignity is to be repeated in the downtown of Seoul.”

The fax addresses protests earlier this week in which conservative protesters rallied in Seoul, burning effigies of the country’s leaders as well as its flag during an anti-North Korean rally on the second death anniversary of former leader Kim Jong Il. …

Zero already telegraphed that our allies stand alone or worse, actively hindered and betrayed by this administration.

The only reason this isn’t laughable is that we have all those Americans over there as sitting ducks.

For what?

The two sides [Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Russia] agreed to "promote and enhance friendly relations" in line with the joint declaration of July 19, 2000 and the Russia-DPRK friendship and good neighborly cooperation treaty of February 9, 2000.

Putin and Kim agreed during their talks to promote a Russian- DPRK political dialogue on the Korean issue and international affairs, and discussed many topical international problems, deputy head of the Russian presidential administration Sergei Prikhodko told reporters following the talks.

The two leaders spoke for an independent and peaceful solution to the issue of reunification of the Korean Peninsula, and against "any outside obstacles to this process" as "unacceptable."

That only means that both the North Korean regime and the Current Regime that is sitting in titular command of the territory once known as “the United States of America” are subject to serious fits of derangement.

This abdication of responsibility, essentially to Communist China, probably means that to establish calm, the territory of Hawaii will be ceded to the “New East Asia Hegemony”, all in interests of peace. But it won’t stop there, as the Red Chinese hare already buying up large tracts of Detroit, and have established bases in California and Nevada. Beijing has also established supply lines from Canada, where they are going to begin shipping tar sands oil back to feed the Chinese industrial complex, as soon as the pipeline is completed to the Canadian West Coast.

Now there is no reason to complete the Keystone XL pipeline.

Personally, I don't think China wants what you say above. While they are building their military to be a regional/world power, they are also becoming more capitalist and don't want North Korea to interfere with their income. I don't fear China. They own too much of American debt, which could be cancelled at any time if China were to become hostile. Always follow the money trail. Plus, I firmly believe they believe in MAD. North Korea, Iran, and others not so much. There is our worry.

Always remember, no matter how much we downsize our ground troops (which happens after every war), our Tridents are still out there with multiple missles/warheads. We could destroy the enemy and possibly the planet many times over with just those, not to mention our bombers. Yes, Russia and now China have similar capabilities, but remember, we have perfected our attack subs for decades, and we have the best attack subs to protect our Tridents. GO NAVY!

It’s all for show between politicians. Our Tridents are cruising all the World’s oceans. Why do you think no one has strategically attack us?

I do want to say I do not fear china or russia or any nation. I know we are ready should the time come. MAD is real as is Sampson so the only odds are the odds against those that wish to bring death though death stalks us all.

You are paranoid. China knows about our Tridents and attack subs that have so much better technology and training for decades.

Plus, like I said above, China doesn't want to lose their American investments. Ever wonder why Hong Kong is still operating on a capitalist system and not desolved into a shitty little communist community? China may be communist in government on the face, but they are becoming to recognize what works. That's why they have become the leading regional economic power according to recent reports.

Yes, they think long term and desire to be the leading World power, but they won't do it through military power as much as they are building. China is now concerned about the Japanese military build up. Japan is getting pissed off and only wanted to be left alone. While China keeps challenging them, the Japanese will build a democratic military machine that will quickly outmatch China. While I hate the Japanese for attacking us, I give them kudos for be industrious and innovative.

The real worries are North Korea (bat crazy) and Iran (histerical fanatics). Once nukes proliferate in the Middle East amongst crazy Muslims, then hell is coming.

Mutally Assured Destruction (MAD) is not a concept that the Mullahs believe in. They actually WANT the end of times so their prophet or whatever they call him can crawl out of some well. They are insane, and I say send them all back to their beloved 6th Century. Nuke Iran, Syria, Pakistan, and anyone else who presents a nuclear hazard and kill them all. Better their children than ours. Looks like Egypt is coming to its senses regarding Islamist control - let's see.

I'm still amazed that Israel is still all talk regarding Iran. If they don't attack Iran's nuke facilities like they did Syria, then they are asking for their death. Once Iran has few deliverable nukes, Israel is gone. Bet the farm.

You're not worried that Obama, with his slashing of the military budget and cancellation of programs, has seriously comprised our capability to defend ourselves? Nor that he continues helping make Russia and China's militaries stronger? The 2 have been holding joint war games since 2005 in preparing for war against us and our NATO allies. Both have been substantially building their military.

In 1988/89, as Motor Sgt of an MI unit in Ui Jon Bu, I was required to fax a copy of our readiness report (DA Form 2406, backside only) daily to our Bn HQ in Seoul. A female nutjob that worked for me accused me and the Motor Officer of faxing it to Kim Il Sung. Funny what triggers such memories....

Syria, Iran, Russia and China plan joint war games, Iranian news agency says
Largest exercise in Mideast history set to take place within a month; Syrian official denies report

By Gabe Fisher, June 19, 2012

Iran, Syria, Russia and China are planning the “biggest-ever wargames in the Middle East,” according to an unconfirmed report on the semi-official Iranian news site Fars News. A Syrian official denied the claims.

According to the article, the four countries are preparing 90,000 troops, 400 aircraft and 1,000 tanks for the massive joint maneuvers, which are to take place along the Syrian coast within a month.

The report states that Russian “atomic submarines and warships, aircraft carriers and mine-clearing destroyers as well as Iranian battleships and submarines will also arrive in Syria” and that Egypt has agreed to let 12 Chinese warships cross the Suez Canal for the exercises.

According to Israel Radio, Bouthaina Shaabana, a Syrian official and President Bashar Assad’s special adviser, said the reports about such a drill are “baseless” and false.

The IDF spokesman’s office called the report a “political matter” and declined to comment.

Iran is currently holding talks with six Western powers over the fate of its nuclear program. The talks, said to be held in a tense atmosphere in Moscow, seek to alleviate world concerns that the Islamic Republic is developing nuclear weapons.

Syria meanwhile faces international pressure to end a 15-month crackdown on local rebels trying to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad.

China and Russia have come to the aid of both countries in recent months at the UN Security Council, vetoing military intervention in Syria and expanded sanctions on Iran.

In spite of obama, am still not worried. I do worry some but then I begin to think of Americans and the resourcefulness of Americans and then I worry less, although as death, worry does stalk me too. Try to forget sometimes. Though when I forget, I find it hard to remember. Is similar to sleep.

[2009] Russia, China plan new joint military exercises

By MARTIN SIEFF, UPI Senior News Analyst
Published: March 26, 2009

WASHINGTON, March 26 (UPI) -- The continuing tensions over Russia's refusal to sell its state-of-the-art land warfare advanced weapons systems to China hasn't interrupted the rhythm of major joint military exercises between the two major land powers on the Eurasian landmass. The latest in the regular, biennial series of exercises between the two nations has been confirmed for this summer.

The next in the now well-established series of exercises called Peace Mission 2009 will be carried out in northeastern China, the Russian Defense Ministry announced March 18, according to a report carried by the RIA Novosti news agency.

The first bilateral Peace Mission maneuvers -- described at the time as counter-terrorism exercises -- were held in Russia and the eastern Chinese province of Shandong in August 2005. As we reported at that time, they were a lot bigger than mere counter-terrorism exercises. Warships, squadrons of combat aircraft and more than 10,000 troops were involved carrying out landings against hypothetically hostile shores. The maneuvers also involved large-scale paratroops drops. The scale and nature of those exercises suggested a trial run for a possible Chinese invasion of Taiwan with Russian support. ..."

Russia, China flex muscles in joint war games
August 17, 2007

CHEBARKUL, Russia (Reuters) - Russia and China staged their biggest joint exercises on Friday but denied this show of military prowess could lead to the formation of a counterweight to NATO.

"Today's exercises are another step towards strengthening the relations between our countries, a step towards strengthening international peace and security, and first and foremost, the security of our peoples," Putin said.

Fighter jets swooped overhead, commandos jumped from helicopters on to rooftops and the boom of artillery shells shook the firing range in Russia's Ural mountains as two of the largest armies in the world were put through their paces.

The exercises take place against a backdrop of mounting rivalry between the West, and Russia and China for influence over Central Asia, a strategic region that has huge oil, gas and mineral resources.

Russia's growing assertiveness is also causing jitters in the West. Putin announced at the firing range that Russia was resuming Soviet-era sorties by its strategic bomber aircraft near NATO airspace.

War Games: Russia, China Grow Alliance
September 23, 2005

In foreign policy it’s critical to “know thine enemy.” So American policymakers should be aware that Russia and China are inching closer to identifying a common enemy — the United States.

The two would-be superpowers held unprecedented joint military exercises Aug. 18-25. Soothingly named “Peace Mission 2005,” the drills took place on the Shandong peninsula on the Yellow Sea, and included nearly 10,000 troops. Russian long-range bombers, the army, navy, air force, marine, airborne and logistics units from both countries were also involved.

Moscow and Beijing claim the maneuvers were aimed at combating terrorism, extremism and separatism (the last a veiled reference to Taiwan), but it’s clear they were an attempt to counter-balance American military might.

Joint war games are a logical outcome of the Sino-Russian Friendship and Cooperation Treaty signed in 2001, and reflect the shared worldview and growing economic ties between the two Eastern Hemisphere giants."

China may “buy” tracts of land but they are still subject to property taxes and American laws governing their use. Buying a US property doesn’t make it an extension of China’s territory, though I’ll bet they might try to assert so when push comes to shove! (Perhaps via the “diplomat” route...ie the “alternate embassy” route where Chinese soil is where-ever the diplomats happen to be at the time.)

Obama Pledges Cuts in Missile Defense, Space, and Nuclear Weapons Programs

February 29, 2008 :: News
MissileThreat.com

A video has surfaced of Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama talking on his plans for strategic issues such as nuclear weapons and missile defense.

The full text from the video, as released, reads as follows:

Thanks so much for the Caucus4Priorities, for the great work you've been doing. As president, I will end misguided defense policies and stand with Caucus4Priorities in fighting special interests in Washington.

First, I'll stop spending $9 billion a month in Iraq. I'm the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning. And as president I will end it.[not win it -etl]

Second, I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.

I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.

I will not weaponize space.

I will slow our development of future combat systems.

And I will institute an independent "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure that the Quadrennial Defense Review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.

Third, I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons. To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons; I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material; and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert [they are NOT on "hair-trigger alert" now -etl], and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.

You know where I stand. I've fought for open, ethical and accountable government my entire public life. I don't switch positions or make promises that can't be kept. I don't posture on defense policy and I don't take money from federal lobbyists for powerful defense contractors. As president, my sole priority for defense spending will be protecting the American people. Thanks so much.

2008 Pentagon Report (March 2008):
China's Growing Military Space Power

By Leonard David
Special Correspondent, SPACE.com
March 6, 2008

GOLDEN, Colorado — A just-released Pentagon report spotlights a growing U.S. military concern that China is developing a multi- dimensional program to limit or prevent the use of space-based assets by its potential adversaries during times of crisis or conflict.

Furthermore, last year's successful test by China of a direct-ascent, anti-satellite (ASAT) weapon to destroy its own defunct weather satellite, the report adds, underscores that country's expansion from the land, air, and sea dimensions of the traditional battlefield into the space and cyber-space domains.

Although China's commercial space program has utility for non- military research, that capability demonstrates space launch and control know-how that have direct military application. Even the Chang'e 1 — the Chinese lunar probe now circling the Moon — is flagged in the report as showcasing China's ability "to conduct complicated space maneuvers — a capability which has broad implications for military counterspace operations."

I never said, or even implied, that China will use military force to exert their will. They would not have to, with the Current Regime now squatting in the Oval Orifice. They hold enough of our debt to effectively foreclose against us on purely economic grounds, should it come to that. That would result in large portions of the territory once known as “the United States of America” being ceded to the Chinese hegemony.

The Chinese only have to tug a few strings to get a LOT of war talk coming out of North Korea, or by extension, the Islamic Republic of Iran, while they may continue to look to the long term. Sure, the US military has the means to severely damage or even destroy a large part of China’s industrial and military capabilities, thus reducing them as a threat to US interests, but that is to assume that US interests WOULD be protected by the Current Regime.
