Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he prayed Sarah Palin does not get involved in a GOP Senate primary fight in South Carolina.
But the Arizona senator said he does not expect her to target the primary fight with his friend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).
Oh, I pray she wouldnt do that, McCain told The New York Times in a wide-ranging interview. And you know, I find it hard to believe that she would.

Palin, McCains vice presidential running mate in 2008, has hinted about targeting South Carolina and a number of other states housing GOP incumbents up for reelection. During the interview, he continued to defend Palin but appeared uninterested in re-litigating his pick for running mate.
Ive moved on, McCain said. Whats the statute of limitations on this issue?
In the lengthy profile released Wednesday, Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) says McCains two defining moments in life were his time in a prisoner-of-war camp and his failure to win the presidency.
Looking to 2016, McCain said he would vote for the Republican ticket when asked if he would consider supporting Hillary Clinton if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) with whom McCain has had dustups won the GOP nomination.
I will support the Republican ticket, he said
He added: With all due respect, that is a foolish question, my friend.
At another point during the profile, McCain was asked if Cruzs trip to Nelson Mandelas funeral was a wise decision. He was the only Republican on the trip.
Would it help you if I called Cruz a wacko bird again? McCain said, referring to past comments he has since apologized for.
Earlier this year, he joked it would be a tough decision to vote for Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) over Clinton.

During the Times profile, McCain worried about rapidly aging after retirement. He is 77 years old.
My grandfather actually flew home from the peace-signing on the Missouri and died, McCain said. I have seen people age dramatically when they go into retirement.
His daughter also expressed little excitement about running in a Tea Party election during another reelection bid in Arizona.
Im really not psyched about going back to Arizona to do another Tea Party election, Meghan McCain said. I honestly dont know how much more of that I can hear.
McCain is always disturbing. He's admitted that he wants to cling to power so he doesn't die. And he's probably right. Arlen Specter's cancer returned and he was dead within two years of being out of power.
Fair enough. I’m praying McCain just stays out. Period.
Dear Senator McCain-
I salute your service and sacrifice to this country.
Now, one more request: please retire.
thanks for your service but you still SUCK!
I more concerned about my Country than I am over John or Lindsay taking another breath. Damn worthless old RINOs.
My Friend, I wish she would primary YOU!
Can we maybe swap McCain back to the North Vietnamese for a different POW / MIA? Please?
Well McCain,... stay the Shmidt out of it.
About 4 years ago in Saratoga County NY the 77 year old County GOP Chairman, Jasper Nolan was quoted in the papers saying that being chairman was like "oxygen" to him and he would never retire. His elections losses grew in a solid GOP county. He is responsible for allowing Kristen Gillibrand to win a seat in Congress and then the NYS Senate. For those who don't know, Gillibrand has only air between her ears. He eventually was forced out of office. These OLD men need to retire and let the younger conservatives have a chance to save the party.
>>McCain is always disturbing. He’s admitted that he wants to cling to power so he doesn’t die.<<
He reminds me of the Emperor Skeksis in The Dark Crystal when he was dying and still would not give up the scepter.
What McCain has amounted to is an act that has NOTHING to offer and won’t get off the stage
No, you'd just be telling us your true thoughts, Senator Keating.
If he dislikes this woman so much then why in the world did he choose her for his running mate? What an idiot!
Dilemma...
Is Lindsey Gramnasty a t*rd, or is he a fly that lands upon the t*rd?
As for McDork, please go away and die. It’ll not make any difference on your IQ.
Why doesn’t she move back to Alaska and take out Begich.
He’s got to be a sitting duck, he won with a Clintonian plurality in 2008 when everybody was revved up to pull the D lever for Baraq?
McCain, LOSER! Did he even TRY to win the presidential election?
“If he dislikes this woman so much then why in the world did he choose her for his running mate? What an idiot!”
He didn’t anticipate what a powerhouse she would become. I’m sure he’s kicked himself several times since, and has probably been berated incessantly by moderate republicans and democrats for giving her the power she has.
He didn’t choose her... he used her. His goal: he wanted to lose a lot closer than it would be otherwise, as millions vote for Palin. The trick, for McCain, was ensuring that having Palin did not result in a win.
or perhaps al-Qaeda-held territory in Syria?
