Decision time for Md.'s health exchange(too few signing up for O'Malley-care)

Our view: The O'Malley administration has made progress on its Obamacare website, but the question of whether to scrap it remains unanswered.

Since Gov. Martin O'Malley declared that the state's health insurance exchange website was functional for most users, anecdotal reports have been mixed. Some people report continued problems with frozen screens and other glitches that have bedeviled the site; others say they were finally able to enroll with relative ease.

(clip) That said, the pace of enrollments is still far too low. If the exchange is able to replicate its best weekday and weekend performance during every one of the 104 days between now and the end of the open enrollment period on March 31, Maryland will still only achieve about three-quarters of its goal of signing up 150,000 people with private coverage. The site may be better, but better isn’t good enough.

O Malley raising tax after tax after tax spent millions of our $$$ on this broken O' Malley-care website, now not enough are signing up for it to make it work.

This is what single party Democrat rule gets you.

I can’t believe O Malley will find 150,000 folks to sign up for something they have to pay for

now, new welfare clients, is another matter

That is the flaw.
Socialist reform solutions only *work* when citizens are forced into it.

We have to pay for others Social security and medicare as long as we work, with no choice.

And there are few alternatives to medicare for those over 65.

Doesnt work when semi-voluntary or voluntary

That’s the way it is with all socialist schemes.
Those getting from it sign up in droves.
Those funding it have to have guns pointed at them.

To really nail Obama and Dems so it hurts, some of these lawsuits must succeed to overturn parts of Obamacare.

now not enough are signing up for it to make it work.

To make it work for whom? The way I see it, the only ones getting screwed here are insurance companies. They are the ones stuck providing coverage for sick people with pre-existing conditions, yet won't have that pool of young healthy people paying the premiums they were promised. As for the government, they will be able to count on additional tax revenues for those who opt out without taking on any additional liability.

This Administration could care less if young healthy people sign up. Their overall goal is to put insurance companies out of business and replace them with Big Government. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to learn that all these glitches are intentional. They already know who tried to access the web site. That is all the information they needed for adding these names to Democrat Party mailing lists.

The idea of the exchange is very similar to how health insurance operates today, but with more mandates.

They have to establish a risk pool of givers and takers, cant just print $$$ the way medicare and medicaid get theirs. More takers than givers and it goes broke, or raises premiums and deductibles

In the event that an honest court will force FedGov to follow the law as written, going to DeathPanels.gov instead of the MD exchange will mean no FedGov subsidies for the welfare class. I love it!

I am hoping for that too.

Now that would leave a mark.

Also I wonder if an employee of say Walmarts could sue HHS because Obama is not enforcing the employer manadate.

Maryland is a deep blue state that has an abundance of REALLY low information voters. I seriously doubt that many of them are aware of, or even care about, any sign up deadlines. Even free or subsized healthcare won’t motivate them to sign up.

http://www.vote29.com/newmyblog/about/alinskys-10-rules-for-radicals

Rule 4: Make opponents live up to their own book
of rules. “You can kill them with this, for they
can no more obey their own rules than the Christian
church can live up to Christianity.”

Rule 5: Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s
hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates
the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.

We will never have a better chance to follow Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” than ObamaCare. It is the law of the Land, and we should force the thugs in our White House and in HHS to follow the letter of the law or to sign a congressional repeal of the law. We cannot permit the continued lawless rule-by-decree, where Dear Leader gives arbitrary commands and those empty words are treated as if they matter. We cannot permit a lawless system in which Obama can use ObamaCare as yet another tool to reward his supporters with waivers and punish patriotic Americans with the fines in that law.

I am an expert at #5, It can be real fun too.

On #4 hypocrisy is a one way street with libs.
No matter what you do, like call them out for breaking their own rules, they will still condemn you for being a hypocrite, for catching them.

The real problem is that an ObamaCare spoof would look silly if it was even half as bad as the real thing. It’s hard making fun of someone so massively incompetent.

HARDLY! The bailouts for them are already written into law!

I don't believe people really believe the notices they got saying their insurance was canceled.

RE: “Now, new welfare clients, is another matter.”

That's the story in Washington state.

They just released our numbers for October and November.

Medicaid - 160,000

Paid Enrollment - 20,000

Of the people who paid - 60% signed up for the “Silver Plan,” which is the one that gives subsidies for deductibles and co-pays.

The insurance companies think that Obama is going to bail them out.

Too early to tell how that theory will work out.

I have a bad feeling Boehner will agree:

“We have to fix ObamaCare, before we can repeal it!”
