Polygamy is back in the headlines.

Last week, a federal judge in Utah struck down part of the state's anti-polygamy law as unconstitutional, although he kept the ban on possessing more than one marriage license at a time. Fans of the "Sister Wives" reality TV stars, who filed the suit, are rejoicing in the news.

At the other end of the spectrum, TLC debuted its newest docuseries, "Breaking the Faith," which tells the dark story of women and children trying to escape from the practice.

Another lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice alleges that polygamous clans are secretly running the show in Utah and Arizona townships, manipulating the political process from behind the scenes. And in Texas, the Attorney General's Office is inching closer to seizing a massive polygamous ranch.

Across the country, angry citizens are calling for the government to follow its own laws and crack down on polygamy.

Meanwhile, celebrities like Akon and various news outlets encourage people of all ages to reconsider plural marriage....

“The most infuriating thing is, WE SAID THIS, and they scoffed! This is deliberate, incremental, debauchery pushed by the LENINIST LEFT!!!”

The more naive among them were stupid and the savvier of them were lying.

How can we become a good Islamic society without polygamy?

Wives will never go for it. Woman want to get married for ‘security”. security defined as taking everything with them if they decide to leave the marriage but monthly checks. I’ve seen cases where even if its the woman cheating se gets everything.

Men will go for it beyond the obvious sex angle. They will see a womans “security” watered down if she decides to leave.

The practice was prevalent in the Roman Empire, which even led Paul to tell Timothy that a bishop should have but one wife. Why? Because polygamy was so prevalent in the pagan world.

False. Polygamy was practically unknown in the Roman world (adultery was not necessarily uncommon, however). By NT times, it was unknown in the Jewish world as well, and it was never permitted among Christians.

"Husband of one wife" means that Paul is ruling out men who were married and divorced as pagans.

Well, who would have ever thought that this would happen, hmm? The liberals mocked us for predicting this when, ironically, they’ll be the ones advocating for it. If you don’t support it, you’ll be a what? A polygaphobe?

Historically, it means less sex for the young'uns, and no wives for those lower on the financial security totem pole. Older rich guys are the big winner (on the surface, for those who think this is a good idea.) Oh, and aging wives will have to contend with new phillies added to the stable.

It also means less children per mom/wife. This has been proven with 19th century Mormon polygamy. Oh, sure men had more children...but polygamous wives had one child less per woman vs. monogamous wives. So it actually lowers the birthrate, which in turn both contributes to a slowly dying culture as well as places fewer future laborers into the economic market to pay for benefits for the aging population. That, in turn, leads to a broader front door for immigrants -- both legal and illegal (see Europe, for example, which is being taken over by Muslims).

Now that is a novel idea. People could avoid inheritance taxes completely if a son married a dad, or whatever weird combination you can think of.

Do these people really not understand what they have done if polygamy is allowed? What if 1000 people want to marry each other? What if several people are married and some want a divorce but others don’t? What if A wants to still be married to B and C, but not to D and E? The legal complications on property, alimony, child support, child custody, inheritance, and a lot of other things would be enormous. It’s insane.
