Colorado revolt: 55 of 62 sheriffs refuse to enforce new gun laws.

Fully 55 of the 62 sheriffs that serve in Colorado have outright refused to enforce the state’s new gun laws — the requirement for universal background checks and the ban on ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.

They say the laws are unconstitutional and too vague.

...

These are the same 55 sheriffs who, in May, tried to challenge the constitutionality of the state laws in a federal court. U.S. District Judge Marcia Kreiger told the sheriffs that they don’t have standing — or legal authority — to challenge the laws as a group.

But the legal challenge is far from ended. Twenty-one other plaintiffs who do have standing are continuing their suit,

Somehow it was OK when some refused to enforce existing marijuana and immigration laws. So why is it a problem when they refuse to enforce gun control laws? Seems like political correctness has created quite a slippery slope.

As much as I detest these laws, I’m hoping they are speaking as individuals rather than as elected office holders who are sworn to uphold the laws, not decide whether they are consitutional or not. If we go down that route on this issue, be ready for total chaos on others, where liberal sheriffs or whatever will make similar decisions.

That’s not how it works.

Part of the law is to detect whether a magazine was made before July1 or after. Since there are no manufacturing dates the law is not practice or enforceable. How are you going to enforce a stupid demorat law like that?

All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void.

“That’s not how it works.”

But that is precisely how it works.

Stand your ground laws are a result of lib prosecutors crucifying honest citizens for simple self defense.
Shall issue laws are a results of sheriffs who never ever give concealed carry permits to anyone but their friends.
Whole, large cities (like San Francisco) have declared that they do not enforce US immigration laws.

These sheriffs are not pushing us off some “slippery slope”, they are standing at the bottom of it.

If Obama can refuse to enforce immigration laws, why not sheriffs refuse to enforce unconstitutional gun laws...

The sheriffs are following the example of the head of the executive branch. Just like Obama on immigration or Obamacare, They can just claim they are choosing to not enforce or perhaps granting a waiver.

Colorado is not San Fran or Bloomberg New York. If you have been paying attention, you may have noticed that 3 Colorado state senator either were recalled or resigned over these new gun laws.

And Colorado is a ‘shall issue’ state, and furthermore, open carry is legal.
