those that are on medicaid paid nothing into it, thats how it differs from medicare. If someone is on medicaid in nursing home, the government can and will take any assets the person had. They will go back from 3-5 years and confiscate any money or estate assets that was given to any one in the family trying to get out of paying for nursing care so the person could go on medicaid. for those that equate the 2, my hubby passed on at 51 and never received any SS or medicare.
Many have stated they don't think they should have to pay for medicare of others, I tell them I am 75 and have 13 grandchildren but still have to pay taxes for their kids schools..via taxes that the schools try to raise more money for just about every year. With kids coming out of schools dumb but might know how to put a condom on a banana.
