Ryan Says GOP to Make Debt-Ceiling Demands in Early ’14
WSJ ^ | December 15, 2013 | DAMIAN PALETTA

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) signaled that Republicans would not raise the debt ceiling next year without some sort of concessions from Democrats, saying lawmakers were still crafting their strategy.

“We, as a caucus, along with our Senate counterparts, are going to meet and discuss what it is we want to get out of the debt limit,” Mr. Ryan said on Fox News Sunday. “We don’t want ‘nothing’ out of the debt limit. We’re going to decide what it is we can accomplish out of this debt limit fight.”

The U.S. government spends more money than it brings in through taxes, which means the Treasury Department has to borrow money by issuing debt. The government can only borrow money up to a certain level - called the debt ceiling – which is set by Congress. In October, lawmakers agreed to “suspend” the debt limit until Feb. 7, 2014. The White House has said it will no longer negotiate with Republicans on conditions for raising the debt limit, but many Republicans have said they will only vote to raise the debt ceiling in exchange for budget changes like spending cuts.

Well golly gee, Paul. If we were REDUCING spending instead of INCREASING it, then the budget would be on it’s way to being balanced and there would be no longer any need for a debt ceiling increase.

I can’t believe this dope is head of the budge committee. But he’s a Boehner stooge!

The only acceptable “trade” that does not violate principle would obtain a statutory limit of federal revenue as % of GDP... With a numeric value of 18 or 19. Period.

This explains his RINO-dom, from http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/11/14/paul-ryan-election_n_2130885.html:

“Ryan lost twice in Janesville on Nov. 6. Although he was successfully reelected to the House of Representatives, he was defeated in his hometown by 10 points in his congressional race — marking the first time Ryan lost the city in a reelection campaign. Janesville also went for the Obama/Biden ticket over Romney/Ryan by 25 points.

“Well, as you know, Janesville is a very Democratic town, but I’m a Republican,” Ryan said in an interview with Janesville radio station WCLO. “But I’ve always done very well here, because more people saw me not as a Republican but just as a Janesville guy.”

When it's all said and done .. and I really hate to realize this .. I'm afraid the only thing that matters to power junkies is power and the money that feeds it.

I, like countless thousands .. maybe millions .. live a comfortable life that, even if we did have a boat and a summer place and a fuller than needed bank account and et cetera ... (I want to believe that .. ) the thrill may last a while, but our core values would win in the end.

What if papa Joe had stopped with earning a comfortable living ... would we have had the Kennedy clan with all of it's problems?

Why aren't people satisfied with just plain living ?

Jeremiah 17:9-10
King James Version (KJV)

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10 I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

"The only acceptable “trade” that does not violate principle would obtain a statutory limit of federal revenue as % of GDP... With a numeric value of 18 or 19. Period."

The problem is the Gov would then just manipulate the numbers like the BLS is doing with the employment numbers.

I’m sorry, Mr. Ryan, but wouldn’t the time to have cut the budget been...when you passed the budget framework bill? It strikes me as the sensible moment to do that, rather than trying to hold off more borrowing on budgets already approved.

OH! Right, this is just red meat to toss to constituents burned by the last minute budget framework deal you shoved through, betraying conservatives with budget increases.

HA HA, don't we keep hearing this, wait for the next deal, boy will we have Obama then.....

Where Ryan screwed up is he gave away the sequester caps. If the deal would have lived within the caps and just set priorities, then this would not be a headline.

Why did he give away the Sequester CAPS?
