Screwing the military out of a pay raise is beyond forgivable.

Or was that Hillary that Newt shared a bench with? The memory is the second thing to go, and I don’t remember what goes first...

FNS Ryan says the Pubbies need to win a few elections before they can make changes.

== That doesn’t seem to be such a winning strategy. If it were not for the Tea Party/conservatives of 2010, you wouldn’t even have a majority in the House.

Yeah, but that big-tent-Dem-lite hasn’t worked so well and you professional politicians keep dissing the conservative base/Tea Party faction.

You're exactly right.

When Republicans don't fight on the budget you get two problems.

One, low info voters don't realize that there is a spending problem.

And two, voters who do think that there is a spending problem, can't tell the difference between a Republican and a Democrat.

Even under single payer, the insurance companies will thrive. Nine out of every 10 Medicare recipients have supplemental private insurance to cover costs that Medicare, a single payer system, does not cover. The insurance companies are not going to be shuttered.

They will outlaw supplemental private insurance.

With regards to the Military

How many remember back in the 80’s when base closing was an issue?

If you believe (as I do) the function of the military is to kill people and destroy things, than we have a hollow military. Women in the military???? This is absurd on its face. Supporting roles - big maybe.

The civilian command structure is to blame. History repeats itself, Rome servers as a good example. The local politician has a base in the local community, the “military” employes locals. How does this help killing people and destroying things?

The RULES of engagement - Another asinine concept controlled by the civilian (elected) leadership.

And remembering the bill to avoid the sequester at the end of the “fiscal cliff”, Democrats got their tax increases and Republicans got stuck with the Sequester deal anyhow;

Let’s look at this in depth;

United States fiscal cliff
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_fiscal_cliff

The fiscal cliff would increase tax rates and decrease government spending through sequestration, and lead to an operating deficit (the amount by which government spending exceeds its revenue) which was projected to be reduced by roughly half in 2013.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) had estimated that the fiscal cliff would have likely led to a mild recession with higher unemployment in 2013, followed by strengthening in the labor market with increased economic growth.

Agreed ROES are just one of many problems we have with the war on the military which continues unabated.Just think how far the MB could get if our military was destroyed the way this regime is trying it s best to do.

So increasing taxes and decreasing spending leads to a deficit?

The sad part: Democrats got their tax increases, taking more out of the private sector, thus decreasing the size of the private sector.

CHART: Obama 2013 Tax Increase Twice as Large as Looming Sequestration
http://blog.heritage.org/2013/02/26/chart-obama-2013-tax-increase-twice-as-large-as-looming-sequestration/

Tax increases, especially on investors and small businesses, also hurt economic growth in more than one way.

1) By taking more money out of the economy that could otherwise have been spent on growing a business and hiring workers; and

2) By changing the incentives against productive work and investment, which slows growth over the long term.

The GOPe underestimates the impact it will have on the base. They believe conservatives have nowhere else to go. They will be surprised. This could be the issue that takes the GOP down and results in a third party movement. Count me in if they pass comprehensive immigration reform. There is no benefit to having a Rep controlled House or Senate. The GOP is not called the Stupid Party for nothing.

I sadly disagree. A third party won't do any better than the current GOPe, and will be just as corruptible.

Face it, we're soooo screwed.

Conservatives are a minority in a minority party, and while I keep hearing people say the United States is a conservative nation, there are way too many stupid people voting on emotion, and the leftists own the media, colleges, schools, and entertainment industries and use them collectively to get tweak the emotions of the stupid to get liberal democrats elected and drum out the vote from their ignorant but pliable underlings.

Meanwhile, thinking coservatives are too busy... Thinking. And then we have the Perfect conservatives who only vote for the Perfect Candidate. Like Diogenes of Siope, looking for an honest man...

There aren't any PERFECT candidates! ONLY what we HAVE. But that is enough for US to lose, and the worst candidate (Obama) WIN! Hey, the bright side! At least no Lefty RINO Mormon is running things!!!!

The whole 2012 election came down to the ground game and get-out-the-vote effort, and we lost on both counts.

I can't see the GOPe, a GOPc (c for conservative) or a third party doing better in national or key statewide elections unless that changes.

The GOPe is intent on political suicide. Throwing Obama a lifeline with immigration reform will ensure that they lose the 2014 midterms and divide the party to such an extent that a third party will emerge. In the meantime, Obama continues with his backdoor amnesty and creating his own immigration reform thru unconstitutional Executive Orders.

Yup. That is exactly what will happen.

I left out my prediction!

I predict...

A third party of conservatives will abandon the Republican party.

However, it will not REPLACE the Republican party, but only DESTROY it.

The democrats will emerge even more triumphant than they were in 2008.

They will then look around, and do the things to make their ascendary permanent.

Goodbye America as we new it.

The perfect is indeed the enemy of the good.

Go ahead and doubt me, and I will beg you to be true! But it will not change what I predict.

AB - You paint a dreary, but possibly accurate picture...unless, unless the DEMOCRAT party changes.

Are there no cracks in that monolithic boogeyman? Do we have to send in Bilbo to ferret out the secret path through the mountain (rather than over or under it)?

Sure, Zel Miller and Joe Lieberman came back on their shields, but there must be a strategy to divide and conquor the many factions. Historically Democrats were not so cohesive. The Dem-elite comes out and says OK we are pro-abortion, anti-gun, pro-amnesty, pro-Gay.. you name it, and they all “seem” to buy in. But do they? We know Blacks are not that wild about Gays or a new wave of Hispanics to displace them in job pool. Many Hispanics have conventional values and morarlity. I mean, we should be trying to recruit all these factions. Educate, educate!

Don’t just roll over and show them your tummy and wag your tail. Do something.

It’s my prediction, not what I want to happen. I’ll go down fighting!

People are just too damn dumb. And TV is just too good a brain washer, and now peer pressure and social media is extending the brain washing faster and farther than ever.

Teachers teach... Leftism. Peer pressure encourages it and ensures NO ONE leaves the reservation.

Bill Ayers went from Commie terrorist to college professor. He didn’t need a weatherman to tell which way the wind blows!

Try to watch a movie—Set your Leftist Filter to High. You cannot miss it—it’s everywhere!

The young seek acceptance. Rock stars give it to them, IF they vote and think correctly. Who wants to disagree with the cool?
