A figment of her imagination!
That is the part that got me laughing. To in any way infer or imply that normal clothing will protect you from a an expanding bullet fired from any modern firearm is absolute stupidity. I guess she was thinking that full metal jacketed bullets are made for that purpose. To say that this person is gun/ballistic ignorant is a massive understatement.
I dare say that the overwhelming majority of violent criminals will NOT read gun publications, because they are functionally illiterate. She mentions Zimmerman, what part of “NOT GUILTY” does this idiot not understand??? Also, no mention of a handgun’s utility when confronted by a RAPIST. Wonder why that is? Wonder if she INVENTED all those “quotes” ??? This deserves a five-alarm Puke Alert!!!
Her father shot himself so therefore guns are bad.
I wonder how the article would look if he had decided, instead, to slam into a bridge abutment at 100 MPH.
She forgot to tell us the magazine titles.
She forgot to write down the page and issue numbers for her quotes.
The “ad” style photograph at the top of her essay is not an ad at all, it's a Photoshop done by a Boston Globe staffer.
The Boston Globe is no stranger to lying, plagiarism, hyperbole and general all around bull.....er...scat.
As if this “journalist” actually read those actual articles and sentences.
yeah, suuuure she did.
Anything to fit the picture and frame the “discussion”.
Joan, Joan, Joan, lie, lie, lie.
Ms. Wickersham parades her ignorance as though she were streaking it.
Most folks know that a "six-shooter" (a rarely-used term) is part of a subset of "handguns". Ms. Wickersham is so arrogantly clueless.
.
First of all, I’m sorry the author lost her father to what I believe was a self inflicted gunshot wound. There was no clarification if this was suicide ,an accident or other. Secondly, I don’t believe I’ve heard of ‘gun periodicals’. Maybe they’ve been around for decades by a different description. I haven’t seen these at Safeway or Luckys or Albertson Grocery Stores. Have you?
Thirdly, her lively descriptions (quick and quiet!)now have me interested in finding these magazines or websites. I feel like using John Kerry’s classic quote of the amateur “I’m going to get me a hunting magazine!”.
>> trying to understand what they were saying, and to whom.
Kinda’ like women’s magazines... seriously, WTF is with those magazines for women???
So her father committed suicide and that means all guns are bad? Maybe she should take some of the blame for that.
How coincidental, I just bought a new Leupold scope for my newest AR15-guaranteed to deliver consistently repeatable accuracy at extreme distances and I purchased special hollow point ammunition with polymer tips that prevent clogging up when piercing thick or heavy clothing, like a hoodie for example.
Just got my stamp back Friday. 10 months!
There’s never any shortage of ignorant *ssholes - why pay her any attention?
Her opinion on condom and enhancement advertisements?
Sure, they’re legal
Then watch gun violence, teen pregnancy, suicide, bullying, knockout games and other forms of disrespect start to disappear.
Oh! And while you are at it, start teaching real science instead of global warming/climate change BS.
Guns scare me so you can’t have one.
There is more truth in any piece of science fiction writing than you’ll find in an article from the Boston Globe.
