Thursday, Dec 12, 2013 Glenn is not a sports aficionado
by any stretch of the imagination
but even he could not get over a new rule that came out of Major League Baseball winter meetings yesterday. Much to the dismay of current and former players, the MLB intends to eliminate home plate collisions by 2015 at the latest.

Ping.
We're up from 24 degrees F. to 30 degrees F. now in Dixie, and it's pretty humid.
It's like wearing a wet towel around yourself, outside.
Gotta' go throw another log on the fire.

Good morning! Power is out, but it’s 46 degrees so we’re not complaining!

Yeah, but what was your humidity?
I've done -27F at Plattsburg AFB,NY, but the humidity was Zero, and you could move around a little and be warm.
You just had to watch the wind and frost bite.
And the difference between -10F and -278F was how fast the inside of your nostrils dried, cracked and bled, and then froze.
But static electricity was a blue-blazing blast!

CORRECTION:
And the difference between -10F and -27F was how fast the inside of your nostrils dried, cracked and bled, and then froze.

Power being out, can lead to some really fun times, and then again, 2 weeks of power outage (due to ice storms) can get old (and cold).

And the difference between -10F and -27F was how fast the inside of your nostrils dried, cracked and bled, and then froze. I had the 'pleasure' of living in Vermont on the occasion that it hit 37 below zero...that was about twenty years after experiencing 52 below zero (the NY state record) in Old Forge where my girl friend and I had intended to go cross-country skiing. We spent the day in our hotel room, instead.

We use to go "stir crazy" about February up there, so we'd buy the face-coat, full faced goggles, and bundle up.
Then on our off-days we go to WhiteFace or Titus, or rarely we go to Killington and have a day of fun.
Sugglers' Knotch was the best.

That was 86 through July 88, and we only went to the Ski Resort "Smugglers' Knotch" once.
We drove Highway 2 to Lancaster and went to a Ski resort north of Highway 2, but I forget its name, and we left after sunset and did night skiing once.
It was fun, but skiing between a day-shift and a swing-shift leads to knee injuries due to fatigue and overly aggressive skiing.
It was worth it.
I don't remember driving Highway 108 South, although I have done a lot of motorcycle touring around Lake Champlain, Lake George, the Adirondack Mountains, and west to Niagara Falls and back.
I've driven Interstate 89 south towards New Haven Conn. also, and North on I-87/I-15 to "Mount Real" (hehehehehe) and aggravated the two-legged frogs.
