After the guilty plea and felony conviction of her husband, and anticipating his deportation back to Mexico, Matilde Gayosso-Martinez, 35, on Wednesday (Dec. 11) decried the effects that such immigration enforcement has on families. She asked, while hand-in-hand with her two pastors at First Grace United Methodist Church on Canal Street, for Congress to pass immigration reform.
Her husband, Juan Pelcastre-Garrido, 40, pleaded guilty last week in federal court to a felony gun charge after his April arrest in a home in the 2800 block of Pakenham Drive in Chalmette. U.S. District Judge Stanwood Duval Jr. sentenced Pelcastre to time served and, in the plea agreement signed by Pelcastre, it clearly states, in bold capital letters, that Pelcastre will be deported.
"I am here to be the voice of many other mothers who have been struggling with their kids who have been left behind," Gayosso said, according to the translation provided by her pastor, the Rev. Oscar Ramos. "I live this situation."

Even with the most liberal immigration reform, this guy would be deported. Legal immigrants are deported after a felony conviction. This guy was an illegal alien.
Using this case for immigration reform is a non sequitur.

She isn’t really a mother. She has no children (anchor babies) with the dearly deported dude. Her claim to motherhood was looking after her niece,,,,due to that kids mother being deported. I wonder what she got deported for
Of course, her convict husband’s felonious behavior had NOTHING to do with her problems. The fact that he is here against our laws has nothing to do with her problems.
I wonder how much she’d be for the government to simply stop enforcing the laws against RAPE, just like she wants them to stop enforcing the laws against illegal immigration. After all, doesn’t equal protection under the law mean that laws are enforced fairly and evenly? So if the government is going to decide to ignore one law, aren’t they required to ignore them all?
She wants laws enforced all right. She just doesn’t want ones that are inconvenient to HER enforced.
Wow..just think how shockingly unfair this is. A man here illegally commits a felony and the country decides to send him back from whence he came. WHY would any country want to keep a felon around that didn’t belong here in the first place? Wow, that would be unreasonable, wouldn’t it?
Perhaps she needs to “reform” how she picks her men. Try one who isn’t here illegally and one who doesn’t commit felonies, sweety. I just can’t generate a whole lot of sympathy for someone who makes crappy choices in men and then demands that society change to compensate for her lousy decisions. I’ll just BET she wanted herself a ‘bad boy’, which this story says she got.

Note the media is sympathetic to gun use when it’s by an illegal immigrant committing a crime.
