Between 2008 and 2011, the U.S. government awarded roughly $6.12 million in federal farm subsidies to several groups in the Chicago area, including a charity owned by Louis Farrakhan’s The Nation of Islam, according to a report released by government watchdog group Open the Books.
The report, titled “Farm Subsidies and the Big Dogs,” is based on data released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture & information obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The report examines total farm subsidies that have been paid into selected cities and urban areas.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, federal farm subsidies are being poured into several non-farming metropolitan areas, including New York City and Chicago, according to the report.
Several entities in Chicago, for example, “receive the federal subsidies at their downtown loop office buildings or residential mansions,” the report reads. “Nearly every neighborhood in the city receives federal farm subsidy payments — including the Gold Coast, Downtown — Loop, Lincoln Park, and even the President’s neighbors in Hyde Park.”

Took a brief look: I bet almost all of these people a tied to the Democratic Party— this is ‘get out the vote’ money for the machine.
I’ll bet those who received are all democrats...
They call them farm subsidies, but they’re really what government does best: take money from those who earn it and give it to those who vote for more benefits.
They need to prosecute fraud, and recover those funds.
If the law allows this, they need to fix the law.
And they need to expose and remove the politicians involved.
But let’s be careful what we are talking about here. Food stamps is under the farm bill, so I’m not surprised that Chicago is getting food stamps. We need to know for sure what program is being talked about here and what the money was really for.
We need farm subsidies. We don’t ever need to be dependent on foreign nations for food. And since we’ve lowered the import tariffs in the 1960’s, subsidies is the only way of making sure that we have home grown food.
Kill the fraud, but don’t kill agriculture in the process.
Let’s write a song jingle that will stick in the American mind.
Where there’s a subsidy, there will corruption be.
Handouts are for bandits.
Fairy Skittles, stinky beans.
Thousands more get property tax breaks by claiming that their property is a “farm” by planting a few tomato plants or keeping a pet goat. Included are some multi-million dollar mansions owned by some very rich people.
These scammers are usually the first ones to take a dump on the country for being unfair.
Farrakhan could be legit, after all he is raising Nuts!

Reparations my foot! The ones getting these $$$ are the least likely to actually need the $$.
If they were truly ‘reparations’ the $$ should go to poor and rural blacks.

Plenty of rural blacks got pigford money in spite of the fact they hadn’t been farmers for at least 2 generations. My neighbors got pigford money. She’s a social worker, he works for a utility company and they have a whole 2 or 3 acres around their home. They’re both mid 30’s.
