Wow! File this one under: what would have happened to a conservative who had made the same un-PC statement?
On today's Morning Joe, New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, discussing the way American children have fallen behind children in other countries in academic achievement, and are coddled, handed trophies for non-achievement and protected from stress, said: "stress will be not understanding the thick Chinese accent of your first boss. That will be stress."

Friedman speaks truth: but what would be MSM reaction to a conservative who spoke it? Ping to Today show list.
The accent is a bit annoying from the men, but the women engineers speaking that way knocks me out.
the truth hurts.
Truth is truth no matter who says it.
my kid and his room mate at college had math “professors” spekee that heathen Chinee and they couldn’t make heads or tails out of what was being “taught”. And my son was a frickin math genius who had to self teach from the book because also in 8th grade the “teacher” was bloomin idiot
The accent is a bit annoying from the men, but the women engineers speaking that way knocks me out.
_______________
Excellent point and one that will probably be ignored by the drive by media.
Thomas Friedman: Me No Likey!
Thomas Friedman: Your new employer is CEO Sum Ting Wong!

The first step in making this country work again and in improving race relations - is to be honest. It’s not easy to tell the truth but you’ve done it, gusty. One step in a thousand mile journey...

I have worked with many Chinese (from China). Completely different from Chinese-Americans.
I like it. they know they are operating in a foreign culture, so are open to learning and aware their views may not always be correct. They also work hard and expect results. Finally, they have no concept of the ridiculous and stupid American concepts of political correctness.
The correct way to address a Chinese superior is “Bloss”. I learned this from watching Mr. Magoo years ago.
Kids today are prevented from achieving the same cultural awareness we had has kids.
“That the test scores of non-black and non-hispanic students ranked with any country in the world.”
Good point, the U.S. is not a single demographic, so it would be naive in the extreme to expect test scores to be as representative as if they were testing a single demographic.
If I recall correctly, aren’t our Asian-American students some of the highest PISA scorers in the world, beating out ANY Asian nation? If I recall some of my readings, I seem to recall that our hispanic population outscores much or all of Latin America, and our white demographic slides in at the top of the European pile.
A better, more accurate way to look out our comparative rankings in international scholastic achievement is to think of the U.S. as being composed of the brightest Asians, Europeans, Hispanics and Africans in the world attending schools as good or better than most you’ll find on other continents.
It’s just that when you average all four groups together you get a regression back to the mean; which ain’t pretty I’ll tell ya.
Given my druthers, I’d rather work for an Indian than a Chinese.
Something about the mindset has much more in common with American thinking.
In answer to your question, Thomas Friedman was racially insensitive. He must resign or be fired. He should not work in news any more but wait in a hole until the singularity.
