...with our story, the one that led to our difficulty, no question the story was true... No question? Here's a question. How can memos be typed with fonts that would exist only many, many years to the future?
...What the complaint and, while we, eventually most of us lost our jobs, was, okay, your story was true, but the way you got to the truth was flawed. The process was flawed.
In Mister Rather's magical world, "a flawed process" means one that catches him hawking forged docs.
Sorry Dan, it's you and your total and complete lack of honesty, integrity, true journalist principles and also that conscience thingy that caught you red-handed.
No question.

Dan, you boob, you fabricated a document out of thin air. The officer who wrote reports for Bush's TANG unit said he never wrote any document like that on any of his pilots.
You were caught red handed, Mr. Rather.

For any newbies not familiar with the Killian documents, here is a gif from Wikipedia showing the alleged damning memo about GW Bush flashing back and forth with a recreation using STANDARD MS Word settings:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a2/Killian_memos_MSWord_animated.gif So, for Dan Blather to be correct, I guess GW Bush knew of the memo, set up Bill Gates to become one of the richest men ever, and as part of the deal got him to set up MS Word to exactly duplicate the type settings, proportional font spacing, superscripting, and line spacing of an early 20th century typewriter used in military bases. Oh yeah, and GW got Gates to make the font etc. used by that specific typewriter be one of the most common in the world.
Yup, that's it.
Or Dan Blather is a pathetic, useless, delusional fool. You choose one...

AIM Editor Cliff Kincaid explained the significance of the panels revelation: Mapes, who was very close to Rather and enjoyed his confidence, had the evidence exonerating Bush of this malicious charge. The report shows that there were multiple credible sources to prove that Bush did not try to avoid Vietnam by going into the National Guard and that he was in fact willing to go to Vietnam as a pilot. However, CBS News deliberately kept this information from its viewers and conveyed an opposite impression because Rather, Mapes & Company were trying to depict Bush as a coward who, as Commander-in-Chief, was sending American soldiers to their deaths in Iraq. The report reveals that Rather assured CBS News President Andrew Heyward that he, Rather, had not been involved in this much checking on a story since Watergate, and that it was very big. The report says that Rather assured Heyward that the story was thoroughly vetted or documented and verified.

I’m so done with this (this got me banned back then), I only have one pertinent comment:
If the media put 1/10th that effort in vetting the current POTUS/POS...
Cliché, I know, and probably parroting other comments.
Yada, yada...
