Despite being one of the bluest states in the country and one of the first to implement state based Obamacare exchanges, doctors in California are boycotting Obamacare...a whopping 70 percent of them.
An estimated seven out of every 10 physicians in deep-blue California are rebelling against the state's Obamacare health insurance exchange and won't participate, the head of the state's largest medical association said.
So why exactly the push back? Under Obamcare, doctors are practically expected to work for free.
We need some recognition that were doing a service to the community. But we cant do it for free. And we cant do it at a loss. No other business would do that, he said.
California offers one of the lowest government reimbursement rates in the country -- 30 percent lower than federal Medicare payments. And reimbursement rates for some procedures are even lower.

You will either die or get well, before you get to see the doctor.
It would be interesting to learn how many of these doctors voted for obammy.
Do you happen to know if they’re going to concierge care or something similar? My coverage ends in May and there isn’t the slightest chance I can buy at today’s rates.
You will either die or get well, before you get to see the doctor. “
People won’t be seeing a doctor. They will be seeing a nurse or a PA who is sitting in front of a computer, asks you questions, puts in the answers and out will pop your diagnosis, listing of meds and treatment regimen.
They’ll make an example of a few of those doctors (fines, jail time, loss of licenses), and the rest will fall back in line.
Another question - how do the other 30% stay in business? Are they more efficient, or are the 70% just lousy businessmen? Or, do the 30% “reuse” a lot of stuff not designed to be reused (very common in third world countries).
You know what they say... “death and taxes”.
ZerøCare happens to be... both.
Forward!!
“You will either die or get well, before you get to see the doctor.”
Either way, it’s a big cost savings! See? ObamaCare will work!

The idiots who designed “Obamacare” run into yet another program-killing, and potentially Administration-killing, problem. Now blue-state Californians face an interesting conundrum: Whom do you trust: your longtime family doctor, or Barack Obama? When a federal program impacts at the local level like that, even the bluest of the blue think local. It may be the people responsible for actually providing the care who deal the death blow to “Obamacare.”
“Forward!!’
For those not familiar with it — this is a communist slogan. We’ll be going forward all right, right over the cliff...
That’s great. Price always goes down when supply is reduced .... right?
I live in LA and have a lot of great doctors. Exactly none of them that I have quizzed supported Obama.
I think people unfamiliar with CA are unaware that NOT all people in CA voted Dem. And in some fields, mine for instance, it’s rare to find a Liberal.
“Theyll make an example of a few of those doctors (fines, jail time, loss of licenses), and the rest will fall back in line.”
You’re suggesting Obama will deal with them as if they are chattel, slaves. I don’t think even Obama is that deluded.
I’m in Rockland County, NY. I asked my doctor at my last visit in November if he’d seen any impact yet. He went ballistic. And not just a little.
“Youre suggesting Obama will deal with them as if they are chattel, slaves. I dont think even Obama is that deluded.”
I guess you still don’t know Obama...
“It may be the people responsible for actually providing the care who deal the death blow to Obamacare.
Optimistic, IMHO.
I believe you/we will see small neighborhood clinics opening up for routine treatment(s) a la Mexico. And frankly, I don’t have any big problem with that, as one component of a cost control schema. If they were staffed with one MD and a few RNs or PAs, that would in my mind constitute a valid approach to cost cutting.
Whereas the present system ratifies the insane rake the insurance companies make from the transfer of monies. Which is why it will ultimately fail...but it will produce devastating results on the way to failure. I sympathize with the doctors. My Mom used a fair amount of HC in her final year and the compensation rates ranged from 10% to 50% of what was billed.
Great. Now how will the millions of illegal aliens get their free health care?
I do not equate 70% as a vast majority. 90% is a vast majority. 70% is more like a very healthy majority. :)
