URGENT: Gun Control Coming to the Senate Floor on Monday

“[Democrats] just spent all year trying to effectively destroy the gun lobby, so why in heaven's name [should] we give them this Christmas present?" -- GOA’s Michael Hammond on the plastic gun ban (ABC News, Dec. 3, 2013)

The U.S. House of Representatives did a very dangerous thing Tuesday -- and, apparently, it did so with the consent of one gun organization.

By voice vote, the House slammed through a ten-year re-authorization of the poorly drafted 1988 plastic gun ban.

Lest anyone be confused about how the anti-gun Left views this, USA Today crowed, on the front page of Wednesday's newspaper that the “HOUSE SAYS YES TO ONE GUN BILL -- Plastic gun ban only firearm legislation to pass since November.”

Taken alone, this gives the Obama administration, if it chooses, another three years to use the 1988 law to ban large numbers of guns.

But there is an even bigger danger: Chuck Schumer held a press conference the same day to indicate that he will use the House-passed bill as a vehicle to pass even more gun control. We don't expect to know Schumer's bill number or language before he actually offers it, but it will purport to deal with guns from 3-D printers, while actually being much broader.

So here's what we are doing: We are asking our friends in the Senate to put a “hold” on any effort by Schumer to amend the House bill.

The Senate will only be in session four or five days next week before the House goes out for the year, and Schumer may not be able to get time on the Senate floor without “unanimous consent” from all senators.

So, by doing this, we would force Schumer to give up on his vehicle for banning printer-guns if he wanted any reauthorization of the 1988 bill. If Schumer remains adamant, there will be no re-authorization at all. Even if he capitulates, we'll see what happens.

It's not a perfect outcome. But we think it's an outcome we can probably achieve.

ACTION: Click here to Contact your Senators. Ask them to oppose any effort by Senator Chuck Schumer to add gun control to the H.R. 3626, the plastic gun ban reauthorization which passed in the House.

Give me a break. The only battle Boehner, McConnell, et al, are fighting is against conservatism. They’ve declared open warfare on tea party conservatives.

- At least one (1) US Supreme Court Justice needs to be impeached to get the crooked greedy idiots of the administration, Department of Justice, IRS, Congress, and judiciary aware that as they ignore and/or break the law(s) that American citizens will now also cherry-pick which laws they chose to observe and/or obey.

- This was something members of the US Supreme Court worried about long ago.

- Tyranny and Dictatorship and Corruption and immunity for prosecution for Insider Trading will have serious consequences.

Re: “Unobtainium”

I should have added “metal is stronger than plastic; I don’t think plastic can withstand the pressures from firing .38, .40, or. 45 caliber ammo..... so one can’t make a truly undetectable gun if the barrel must be metal.”

Do I wish we had a Constitutionally minded nation with a like-minded POTUS, SCOTUS, Senate and House? Absolutely, but we’re not going to get there by losing elections.

I missed the part where someone advocated a strategy of losing elections.

The anti-gun lobby has a problem. They think they can control the digital programs which produce these “guns.”
The hardware will become legion. The programs will proliferate around the world, if they try to ban them.

Every hacker from Seattle to Stockholm , to Dubai , Sydney, Shaghai and beyond stand at the ready.

Agreed. But a ceramic/carbon fiber interchangeable tube
will do quite well.Thread on, thread off.And while they are at it they can program in a plastic silencer filled with miniature carbon buckyballs ( buckminsterfullerene).

That should really send these liberal / RINO whackos into hysterics.

Its too late, the cat is out of the bag.

The GOP pushed it through on a voice vote with the GOP sponsor a Congressman who is retiring.

Sounds like the E-GOP is determined to give the 'Rats an opening to push through a gun ban.

Another knife in the back? Someone got blackmailed or squeezed?

Remember, Pew's sociology survey work shows that E-GOP business types are generally weak to unfavorable on the subject of guns in the hands of employees. Some of them would just as soon Schmucky Chuckie's pals won this issue, esp. if they themselves are East Coast big-city RiNO's.

Schumer has communist Russian roots as do so many of the false liberal elites. That ideology is the basis of their push towards tyranny and opposition to our Second Amendment, which gives all Americans the right to self protection and the right to bear arms. The Commies believed that only elites and authorities should be armed and the serfs should be kept under thumb.

The government we deserve?

I pray that God, in His mercy, will not give us the government we deserve.

“...Boehner is an idiot....”

Add “feckless” just before the word “idiot”...

“Worthless” works too, although don’t discount the power of the word “clueless” as well...

Adjectives... where would we be without them...?

“...The Commies believed...and the serfs should be kept under thumb....”

Sure. That makes it easy for the communists/socialists to slaughter them when the peasantry gets fed up and pissed off with being continually pissed ON.

The equation suddenly changes when the Local Commissar / Party Boss needs to sleep with one eye open because a pissed-off Kulak has a Mosin Nagant pointed at his window or front door, waiting for him to emerge in the morning.

Life’s a real bitch when the other guy can fight back...

Never give up your guns.

They are not ignorant boneheads in the House that are doing this. They are aiders and abettors and co conspirators that are in full agreement[whether they will admit it or not]with what the Democrats are doing.

Why do you think that the Socialists [Democrats] are trying to get rid of both?

Not sure if anyone realized this, but this plastic gun ban can also apply to polymer lower receivers made for AR15s too. I haven’t seen the actual law yet, so I am assuming this.

I wouldn’t be surprised later if they try and direct the passage of it toward these new types.
