Newtown police responded rapidly to last Decembers Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings and followed department procedures upon arrival, according to a report released Thursday by the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association.
At the request of the Newtown Police Department, the chiefs association analyzed the police response and issued a nine-page report Thursday, a day after police released recordings of 911 calls from the morning of the shootings.
The chiefs report said the first Newtown officers were on the scene less than three minutes after the initial 911 call, which came from a woman inside the building.
The report said officers followed the departments procedure in parking far enough away from the building to allow officers to survey the scene surrounding the school and react to incidents as necessary.
Almost six minutes lapsed between the first officers arrival and the time officers entered the building, but shooter Adam Lanza killed himself just more than a minute after the officers arrived, the report said.

"Almost six minutes lapsed between the first officers arrival and the time officers entered the building..."
How many children died in those six minutes? And, they're being lauded?
The blue line forms a circle......just like they always do.
The same thing struck me.
My understanding of reading a report was that the first cop car to come close to the school stopped and called in for support rather than going to the school.
“and followed department procedures upon arrival”
Which was to hide behind their vehicles until they were absolutely sure it was safe to enter.
Yeah, something tells me they screwed up.
That’s why CNN showed the police raiding another school and made it look like Sandy Hook.
Mine didn’t make it past the mod.
Police chief’s report : “we’re awesome”.
In this report, the police admit that they did their best: they responded within three minutes, lingered outside for six minutes following department procedures, and entered the building within a minute of the shooter killing himself. Of course, all of the children were already dead.
By their own admission, the best you can expect from the police is for them to survey the crime scene, tag the bodies. and collect the evidence. No more than that.
So, who will protect the children?
They can be expected shoot every dog in sight among other things.
Not only that but the staff cut down shielding the children, while the armed and trained quiver outside.
Good thing Lanza had a “high capacity assault rifle” since there was no way he could kill all of those huddled up kids with a shotgun in 9 long minutes.

The 3 plus 6 minutes is why they didn’t want the tapes released. Now had it been a 4 legged dog, instead of a 2 legged varmint, they would have broken down doors to shoot it instead of cowering beside their cars.
It has been said many times before.
“When seconds count....the police are only minutes away.”
The number one job of these officers was to protect themselves and their brothers in blue.
How many children died in those six minutes? And, they're being lauded?
Public so-called "servants" are always the first to praise public so-called "servants."
of course not all LEO's are like that, there are some truly brave and courageous men out there doing at times a vary dangerous job, they just seem to be in the minority these days
“They can be expected shoot every dog in sight among other things.”
It took them 9 minutes to ensure that there were not any dogs in sight that would have kept them from heroically storming that school. Heck, they could have been bitten or something!
