Martin Bashir Resigns From MSNBC

Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s-h-i-t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced, Wednesday afternoon, that MSNBC and Martin Bashir are parting ways.

And the rats will blame Conservatves for forcing Bashir to resign and will blame Palin for creating the situation that caused Bashir to act like a rat on crack.

They will never get it.

It's not much and the retribution against this vulgar pig Martin Bashir should have been much stronger from MSNBC... but at least it's more than the usual glossing over by the partisan hack MSM. I hope he sinks into oblivion and that no other "news" agency hires him.

He needs to go back to wherever he came from? Is a transplanted muzzzie from Britain?

"I don’t care who you are or what your political persuasion is - as a news commentator/reporter, on the air, you have NO right to use obscene or quasi-obscene language in your commentary. "

What if you used the acronym W.T.F. repeatedly or made jokes about "polls" being for strippers?

Owch!!

To tell you the truth, that Palin isn't perfect resonates with me. I like the "WTF" because it is an Americanism, local language. And "polls" for strippers -- LOLOL!!

Point to Pan Yan! Good one, and true! {^)

Makes me like Palin all the more, but then I don't care one iota about Bashir or his job security, as opposed to so many lusting for his gory demise! {^)

Here’s the statement to Mediaite, from Martin Bashir, via email:

After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday.

Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the President of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation. It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments.

I deeply regret what was said, will endeavor to work hard at making constructive contributions in the future and will always have a deep appreciation for our viewers – who are the smartest, most compassionate and discerning of all television audiences. I would also wish to express deepest gratitude to my immediate colleagues, and our contributors, all of whom have given so much of themselves to our broadcast.’

MSNBC will be issuing a statement shortly.

Update: MSNBC released Bashir’s statement, plus the following statement from MSNBC President Phil Griffin:

“Martin Bashir resigned today, effective immediately. I understand his decision and I thank him for three great years with msnbc. Martin is a good man and respected colleague – we wish him only the best.”

Obama used the acronym W.T.F. for “Winning The Future”. She called attention to it; that’s how that started and why she still uses that acronym.

I'd forgotten that! Geez. No wonder I like Palin.

NBC should have their broadcast license revoked for this statement alone.

These are our airwaves, gifted to the networks

MSNBC should have fired him on day one

Exactly. That type of behavior should not be tolerated. The cowards at PMSNBC are cultivators of this bad behavior.

If you care about the culture, you should care about this story. And why not celebrate a happy ending?
