Video: Tip-denial story gets even more strange (Lesbian ex-Marine waitress)
Hot Air ^ | November 29, 2013 | Ed Morrissey

Three days ago, the claim by a New Jersey waitress who claimed to have been stiffed on a tip because of her sexual orientation began collapsing, but unfortunately for Dayna Morales, that’s not the end of the story. After the original story went viral, the family who supposedly stiffed Morales showed NBC New York their credit-card bill, establishing convincingly that Morales did indeed get a tip — and that someone else must have written the note. Last night, NBC New York dug deeper and found a few more issues in Morales’ background, including a history of fabulism:

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

The New Jersey waitress whose story has been questioned after she claimed she received an anti-gay note instead of a tip on a restaurant bill was dishonorably discharged from the Marines last spring after she stopped showing up, NBC 4 New York has learned.

And that’s not all:

A woman who says she and Morales worked together at a Cheesecake Factory in Nyack, N.Y., last year said Morales told coworkers she had brain cancer.

“She came in with her hair shaved because she wanted to shave it herself before she lost it,” said Jacqie Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick said Morales also leaned on the cancer story to accept offers of help from friends at work.

Then, she abruptly quit, according to Fitzpatrick, and her coworkers didn’t see her again until she appeared in news reports about the receipt.

Morales collected $3,000 in donations from people after the original story went viral. Supposedly “most” of that money was headed for the Wounded Warrior Project. Maybe NBC New York will follow up on the story by following the money next.

Before you start on the old "there's no such thing as an ex-Marine" bit, the report says she was dishonorably discharged. About that: Since when does someone get a dishonorable discharge (the WORST kind!) for missing drills? There's more to that story, I guarantee you.

She probably started by missing drills, then didn't show at the hearings associated with the unauthorized absences, and it continued to escalate from there.

The buffoons on Capitol Hill give these freaks protected species status which causes the freaks to have to make sh*t up to achieve their much sought after and desired “victim” status. Geeesh. The whole world is just one big freak show.

I thought you had to be convicted of what a civilian court would consider a felony to rate a dishonorable discharge? Most of the people I saw discharged for testing positive, insubordination, personality disorders, drunkenness, etc. got general discharges or maybe bad conduct discharges in the extreme. How does she even get a job with a dishonorable? That's considered the same as being an ex-felon, or has that changed too?

I bet the Marines are glad she quit!

She quit her waitress job, she was dishonorably discharged (according to the video) by the Marine Corps.

I seem to remember Tom Gresham exposing WWP as a sketchy organization on Gun Talk Radio.
Please back me up on this, MyLife? Wasn't this the case back then?

I’m glad you think you’re funny, because almost no one else here does. Seriously.

When I was in the USMC I was friends with a woman Marine who worked as a waitress at the Officers Club. She wore cammi tops and leotards to work. She was discharged after being diagnosed as schizophrenic. She wasn’t a lesbian, either.

I think these folks are being a bit informal in their language. This story says....

“...Morales was dismissed from the Marine Reserve Corps in May...” and

“...under conditions that were other than honorable...”

which, if I understand correctly, is not as bad as a “Dishonorable Discharge.”

I’m glad you’re glad.

You know, almost every time I encounter you lately you feel
the need to call for backup. Why might that be exactly?

I woke up one morning in the barracks with a new roommate fresh from basic and AIT talking to me from the foot of my bed (even though I’d been sound asleep) about some conspiracy theory and how the CIA was after him. This was 1979, before conspiracy theories became more mainstream and we were in a military intelligence battalion! Needless to say we had him kicked out so fast his butt didn’t catch up with him for 2 months.

Not “backup” just showing the ping list leader what you’re up to. “Backup” would imply that we are “fighting” you or have the power to discipline you in some way. We don’t. Unlike you, we know who owns this site. And it ain’t us.
