The holiday shopping season kicked off much earlier this year, as at least a dozen national retail chains from Macy's to Gap to Target opened their stores on Thanksgiving Day despite planned protests from workers' rights groups opposed to employees working on the holiday.

Judging by the pics, most of them are “Looking for the bargains Americans won’t look for”, if you catch my drift.

Why go fight crowds at shopping centers when you can order stuff online, usually cheaper, no tax and it is delivered to your door with no additional charge for shipping?
I dunno. For the entertainment value?
I agree. I avoid stores and malls all year long. Don't have to worry about being robbed and killed in the parking lot or having your car smashed or stolen. Now I'm working on eliminating trips to the grocery store.

especially the tax part. I starve the beast at every opportunity, and Christmas is the best opportunity.
