President Barack Obama has continued an annual family tradition by helping to pack bags of food and distribute them to the needy on Thanksgiving eve.
Obama, his wife Michelle, daughters Malia and Sasha, and his mother-in-law, Marian Robinson, last night dropped in on the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), one of the largest serving the Washington area.
They dropped bundles of sweet potatoes, onions, carrots and apples into reusable bags people held open as they walked by.

A few years ago I did a turn at our local food kitchen. First of all, we had to huddle in the kitchen to pray before we began so that we wouldn’t offend anyone. Even though it was formerly a church there was not a cross in sight. Then we are at the line serving food. Some of the folks were very happy positive and thankful. Most were sullen. What really made me cranky were the strong (had obviously been working out) tattooed young men. Why was I feeding them? No thank yous, just avoid eye contact, get the food from the stupid white woman and get back to the street corner.
Well, there is that Asian guy. They are kind of white aren’t they? //sarcasm.
He did a hell of a lot more than just hand out some Turkey and Stuffing. 2012’s SNAP expenditures were 78,435.92 MILLION. That’s 78+ billion dollars.

Yeah, he gives away food he didn’t pay for to people he doesn’t care about.
Great tradition.

This is something Hugo Chavez would do. All style, brazenly steal from the middle class.
Here's how I'd do it: have the church or whatever invite people who want to share Thanksgiving join them for Thanksgiving dinner, bringing the food etc. Have the homeless and others in need prepare it, arrange everything, clean up, and join the benefactors for dinner.
Spent enough time in those fragile neighborhoods to know the people you give things to might like the freebies but don't respect the people who are giving the handouts. Sharing works better for everyone. Handouts are elitist and often perceived as an indication of guilt.
Obummer has even cheapened the meaning of Traditions.

From what I hear, the media is not alowed to record (photograph) the One, only WH photogs will take the pictures.
Since the calendars have coincided, with Channukah and Thanksgiving on the same day, let’s make and give these folks that good ol’ halal food, shall we?
