Personnel working at the CIA annex in Benghazi were well aware that the 9/11 anniversary last year could be a flashpoint, according to recent testimony, and a notice was even posted on a bulletin board at the annex warning of potentially increased hostilities against western targets during that period.
The new details emerged during recent closed-door briefings by CIA personnel including former contractors, according to those familiar with the testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.
The witnesses also voiced concern about Ambassador Chris Stevens visit to Benghazi right before the 9/11 anniversary; Stevens was killed in the attack.
Given an understanding between the local CIA personnel and the nearby State Department operation that they would come to each others aid, the CIA on the ground in Benghazi was aware of Stevens arrival in Benghazi on Sept. 10, according to the witnesses. But they told lawmakers they were puzzled as to why Stevens was there during a period of heightened threat without significant additional security.
The new testimony appears to challenge the findings of the Accountability Review Board -- known as the State Department ARB -- which explicitly stated that the Benghazi consulate and the State Department were well aware of the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks but at no time were there ever any specific, credible threats against the mission in Benghazi related to the September 11 anniversary."

Benghazi ping.
Let Republicanprofessor know if you want on or off this ping list.
The Secretary of State was reported to have responded as follows: "What difference does it make?".
***But they told lawmakers they were puzzled as to why Stevens was there during a period of heightened threat without significant additional security.***
Who ordered/asked Amb. Stivens to go? Didn’t anybody ask him why he was there without ‘significant additional security’?
Seems to me this could be big. Or it should be big.
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
The CIA declined to comment ... HOW SPECIAL IS THAT?
FYI
It will be as big as the posts on this thread and this is about all the further it will go.

Everybody knew the bad guys in Benghazi had mortars and RPGs and heavy machineguns. The CIA is supposed to have professionals working there. Professionals would have a security plan for that place. They would know that the bad guys had mortars, and they would plan accordingly. They probably couldn’t bring in their own heavy weapons, so how would they plan to defend themselves? Air support. They would have planned for air support. You want to know why they were using a laser designator? Because they were supposed to. That was in the security plan for this facility. Why did the air support not come?
FREE THE BENGHAZI 40!!!!!
It’s blatantly obvious that the whole BENGHAZI AFFAIR was known by both Obama and Hillary - and it blew up in their faces politically and ended up getting 4 US Citizens killed - and they just don’t care!
Any other cover-up story or excuses is just distraction...now - can we now move on with the Impeachment Hearings and get this Administration out of office before Christmas 2013!
on... thanks
3 day old dead fish lying in the Tucson sunshine have less of a smell about them than this Benghazi story.
The use of the laser designator (with associated risks) seems to have fallen out of the story.
I concur with your comment that that had it and used it - because that was their protection plan.
Do we even know for certain that the drone overhead was UNarmed? Could it be that it was armed, and the request to launch missiles was denied?
