An Argentinian car mechanic has invented a potentially life-saving device that could be used to help deliver babies when complications occur during labour.
Jorge Odón, 59, designed the instrument which could be safer than forceps, a ventouse, or a Caesarean section, in a non-hospital setting.
The Odón Device uses a polyethylene sleeve, fixed around the baby's head, to pull the child down the birth canal.

Considering that babies don’t breathe until they are outside the womb I doubt that would happen.

OK, who thinks Tiller the Killer’s girlfriend, Cruella Sebelius, will approve this baby saving device for use in the U.S.?

No harm to the babies’ neck or head? Those areas aren’t very strong at birth, for ‘pulling’. Just wondering...

Uh, what do you think a doctor or midwife does? Anyway, from the way this sounds it is less pulling than guiding. I had a friend who had a tooth removed with NO DRILLING. He said thay just worked the tooth around in the gum, used a tool called a foreps (?) and a half hour later it was done and he had very minimal pain after and the next day it was achy but felt fine.
He said they worked the tooth around and just quided it out of the gum after they worked around in his gum.

Pretty cool but not many exodondists are trained on it or use it. Hopefully the baby thing looks even easier to do/use.

and we continue to be screwed between Birth and Death by our government. So there isn’t that much of a change.

I have no idea what a dr or midwife does; never seen a live birth. Do all babies come out head first, or do some come out feet first? I thought the mother’s contractions pushed the baby out, pretty much most of the way. I was just commenting that the delicate head-neck area probably can’t have too much pulling on it before it’s damaged.
