MLB to step up security in 2014

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Baseball fans should expect to go through a metal detector to see their favorite team play in 2014.

Major League Baseball security director John Skinner said on Friday that all 30 teams are expected to screen all fans entering their ballparks next season. Some aspects of the screening will be left to individual teams, but the commissioner's office is planning to recommend walk-through metal detectors, he said.

Last trip to Heinz Field where they wanted to seize my wife's purse because it wasn't the new regulation "see through" type was the last straw for me. We sold our tickets to a scalper and will never attend another NFL game at Heinz Field or elsewhere.

I will walk through a metal detector, but if MLB takes things to the same extreme, then I am through with them as well.

I'm fed up with ever citizen being treated like a terrorist and every terrorist being handled with kid gloves in ObaMao's Amerika.

The mania for “security” is costly, intrusive, time wasting, demeaning to all of us AND will not stop or lessen what we call terror attacks. Lone nut cases doing spectacular suicides will continue no matter what is done, just in another venue. Real jihadists only pull off one or two a year anywhere in the would to cripple transport and raise costs for security in all Western nations.

Statistics show we are more likely to be hurt by an appliance falling on us at home than terrorism. I say suck it up and live life rather than looking to be surrounded by bubble wrap.
