CARSON: Forget party loyalties, let’s save America
The Washington Times ^ | 11-20-13 | Ben S. Carson

Posted on 11/20/2013 7:13:42 AM PST by afraidfortherepublic

When I was a teenager, we loved to play baseball, and in my neighborhood there were two teams. Both of them were quite good, but they were bitter rivals. It was not uncommon for fights to break out when they played each other.

On one very memorable day, a very boastful team from another neighborhood challenged our neighborhood to a game. Their team was quite formidable by reputation, and neither of our teams would likely have been able to beat them. We decided to put aside our differences and use our strongest players to form one neighborhood team to take up the challenge. It was one of the most memorable games in my life, and we absolutely slaughtered the competition. That was the beginning of many lasting friendships and the end of an unproductive rivalry.

The reason for the great success of our new neighborhood team was a recognition that we were much stronger when we combined our forces and stopped fighting each other. Is there a lesson to be learned here by those individuals who represent all Americans in both houses of Congress, the executive branch and the Supreme Court?

~snip~

There is no question that we need health care reform, but there is a major question about whether it should be something that is imposed upon the people by a government that thinks it knows what is best for everyone, or whether it would be better to create a system that preserves the freedom of choice and liberty of all Americans?

Usually when a complex issue is tackled, it is wise to define the basic goals of everyone involved. I think it would be wise for a health care reform plan to include the following:

• Basic medical and surgical coverage for every single American.

We have totally opposing ideas about America should be. The progressive communist idea is different than ours. Where does that leave us? One side has to go.

This plea assumes that the majority of democrats believe in free market capitalism.

They don’t

The two party system has pretty much reached it’s plateau of capitalism vs communism... Under God vs No God... individual responsibility vs the welfare state.

Democrats in power already believe they are saving this country... by destroying it’s foundations first so that it can be rebuilt.

Appealing to their senses and conscience is like appealing to a pedophile’s sense of decency.

There is no compromise... only victory or defeat.

There is only one solution to the health INSURANCE problem in the US, and it involves the free market and profit motive.

The government already has laws against collusion and fraud, and there's already a safety net. Let them guarantee the market place is open and corruption free. Let the market do the rest.

In baseball, the whole team is striving for the same outcome.

That is not the case here. That is the problem.

The progressive communist idea is different than ours.

There's no compromising with that. We already have Communism-lite.

The hard thing is dealing with the psychosis that is “Liberalism”—how to break through Leftists’ delusions so that they can see truth/reality.

I love Mr. Carson and this is a great analogy except it does not work in our situation. The kids that formed the one team from 2 teams had a common goal, to win by having the highest score.

We conservatives, supporters of the US Constitution, and progressive communists have a very different idea what “winning” is. We want to preserve and protect the republic. They want to tear it to pieces.

Doc Ben Carson is a very interesting and smart guy, amazing that he is here in liberal Maryland, the beast of the belly.

I remember a Bell that Echoes the Price it costs To Be Free. America walked past the Bell many years ago. Is the time coming to ring that Bell once more? To Be Americans or To Be Slaves? Our choice of To Be or Not To Be.

The Alinskyites will have nothing other than their way, and their way alone.

Mass-murder is next on their agenda, like it always is with socilists/communists.

Brilliant man from everything I’ve seen and heard.

Though I prefer Cruz/Palin or Palin/Cruz I would vote for Carson in a heartbeat given a chance.

The government loves the fact that Americans have developed a team mentality regarding political parties. I mean you’ll never get a Yankees fan to suddenly change to a Red Sox fan – and they love the fact that we have carried this over to Republican and Democrat ‘fans’. The fan mentality should never be applied to ever changing political ideologies as it causes us to sacrifice core beliefs in order to support a political team. Beyond this, the team mentality takes the focus of the real game that’s being played. Americans need to wake up and realize it’s “us vs. the government” and not “democrats vs. republicans”.

Human psychology in groups and homes is to defend the “bread winner.” When government is the bread winner you will not change their hearts and minds. They will defend their bread and vote their pocketbook.

The numbers are against us.
