The (exempt) President’s panic attack over ObamaCare
NY Post ^ | 11/16/13 | Yuval Levin

The most important thing about the policy move announced by President Obama on Thursday is not its practical significance — which is frankly very hard to predict — but rather what it tells us about the mindset of the president and his top lieutenants. In that respect, the past few days have marked a significant change, and signaled a new and unprecedented level of panic and chaos.

**SNIP**

If the Senate Democrats championing the Landrieu bill (which would impose a guaranteed renewability requirement on all 2013 plans, overriding ObamaCare’s qualified-coverage mandates) got their way, they would expose deep divisions in the Democratic caucus that Harry Reid has worked for years to hide (mostly by avoiding difficult votes) and put the president in the position of seeming to be reprimanded by his own party.

Meanwhile, the Democrats and the Liar in our WH are telling Medicare participants that their plan is safe. WRONG! Millions of seniors have to have a supplement to Medicare because Medicare doesn’t pay but a small portion of the cost. Supplemental insurance to Medicare is being canceled. Take note!!!

The commie lib politicians and union thugs “rammed” ObamaScam down our throats. It’s time for those freaks to drop their demands to be exempted from the horrors of ObamaScam and get “a little skin in the game.”

“But even if we get the hardware and software working exactly the way it’s supposed to with relatively minor glitches, what we’re also discovering is that insurance is complicated to buy.

This is the most damning statement to come out of this whole mess.

They're only NOW discovering that insurance is complicated? And these morons had the unbelievable arrogance to think that they could take over and run 1/6 of the U.S. economy, because they were to stupid to know that insurance is complicated?

This is the lesson of liberalism that any idiot could have learned over the last 100 years merely by looking objectively at history.

I once dated a left-wing Obama-loving college professor, and had many occasions to socialize with her friends and colleagues.

One night at a social gathering, I very politely explained to them the concept of the "invisible hand," and the "broken window fallacy," which they somehow had never encountered in pursuit of their advanced degrees. These concepts were completely new to them.

A few weeks later, one of the couples to whom I had introduced these concepts invited my then girlfriend and me to dinner at their home. During the dinner, the concept of the invisible hand came up again in the discussion (I'm not the one who introduced it into that conversation).

The hostess' husband -- an insufferable, over-educated and pompous fool with great delusions of intellectual superiority -- having had a couple of weeks to ponder the concept of the invisible hand to which I had initially exposed him weeks earlier, derisively dismissed it by saying: "It's a joke."

I learned during my time with her that lefty intellectuals actually have no idea what conservatism stands for, and could not even articulate its basic ideas. All they knew was the stereotypical left-wing slurs that they had internalized during years of immersion into the lefty "intellectual" echo chamber of academia.

It was quite an eye-opener for me.

Put these pompous “intellectual” elitists A-Holes in the Real World...needing to survive from individual effort involving Blood Sweat and Tears, Like Real Live Productive Americans...and these pudgy pampered p*****s would end up living in their Grandma's basement watching MSNBC and and bemoaning anyone who achieved prosperity in the private sector as a greedy criminal polluting racists, who must have gained their wealth by stealing it from the nearest homeless bum whose putrid existence validates their prime belief, that America is bad, and only college educated elitists and Big Government can save us from ourselves.

IMO, zero is not panicking about anything. His eye is on the prize, ‘Single Pay’. He could give a rats a$$ about Obamacare.

In case anyone who was wondering how Obama could wave his magic wand and “allow” insurance companies to offer continuation of non-compliant (illegal) policies: he can’t. Not really. He can’t make the policies legal, but what he can do is tell the insurance companies he won’t prosecute them for offering illegal policies. So Obama is telling the insurance companies: “Don’t worry, it’s OK to issue illegal policies because I promise my administration won’t prosecute you.” In other words, Obama can’t make the policies legal, so he’s encouraging the insurance companies to break the law.

So encouraging the insurance companies to break the law is “Obama’s Big Fix”! So how’s that for great health insurance reform? Oh, yeah, and what a wonderful way to govern the country: encourage law-breaking. Given the example this President sets, why should anyone else feel compelled to follow the law about anything?

On the other hand, we all know that “Obama’s Big Fix” is impossible. State insurance commissioners are saying “NO”, and the insurance companies won’t issue illegal polices anyway due to massive liability issues. Oh, and what happens in case anyone does get to buy such an illegal policy? They’d still have to pay the “fine” because they won’t have Obamacare-compliant polices and the President didn’t give those people any “prosecutorial discretion”.

Besides, Obama himself said the reason for “Obama’s Big Fix” is ““What we want to do is to be able to say to these folks, you know what, the Affordable Care Act is not going to be the reason why insurers have to cancel your plan.”

That’s just plain despicable. Absolutely despicable. Coming up with a health care plan that requires encouraging companies to break the law, yet knowing the call to illegality is actually impossible anyway, and then on top of doing that, doing it solely to shift blame from himself and the Democrats who passed this monstrosity.

Mortally ill people who’ve lost their insurance and their doctors will soon be dying because of Obamacare. Ted Cruz needs to gather a couple of dozen of these poor souls from around the nation, and hold a press conference with them surrounding him, and declare: “Mr. President, let’s tear down this Obamacare now! It’s time to repeal this monstrosity. Too many innocent people are dying already. Let’s stop the horror before more are killed by it.”
